Sonic General Discussion Zone Act 1: New Frontiers

I can understand people being skeptical of it, but the hyperbole argument specifically just seems so weird to use when they straight up say "infinite worlds/infinite universes intersect" for the six, seventh, and eighth time lol
Nah bro, it is all poetical, it isn't literal fr fr

LMAO yo you guys are too much sometimes
Jokes aside, we're way past giving peeps a benefit with a doubt when it comes to Sonic scaling. It's only skeptical because it's Sonic and that's it.

It's not like were trying to use R>F to get 1-A or possibly string theory dreams to H1-C/1-B, it's just additional 2-A jurisdiction (a rating that's universally agreed upon both on and off the Wiki, minus the detractors/hatedom whose opinions don't really matter anyway).

All of this somehow leads back to just being reddit scaling when it comes to Sonic and the downplay there💀

No ill will towards anyone but Reddit powerscales Tails Knuckles and Amy* like how IDW handles Metal Sonic.

*Sonic characters in general, except for Sonic, Shadow, and now Metal Sonic because people think he's cool after Bowser VS Eggman released

That and the general people who pretend to know what they're talking about in terms of any scaling. You can give all of the objective evidence in the world, but it'll still be wrong to some people because they're statted as stronger than X or Y fictional entity that they may like more than him.

So, you're either wrong cuz Sonic is stronger than your favorite character(s) or you're wrong because of some mental gymnastics that they wouldn't do for many other character in fiction.

The standard that Sonic powerscaling is held to on Reddit has to be studied

Tails gets it bad too when he goes up against Luigi, how many times have I seen someone say "Luigi scales to Mario, but Tails doesn't scale to Sonic" 😒

I can SORTA get how they can see them not scaling to Sonic, but then I also remember even the side characters handling threats Sonic can deal with at LEAST on a comparative level of efficiency.

I don't know why this sentence gives me the same vibe as "Unlike Sonic, Mario game mechanics are canon"—it makes me wonder if some of them focus on the negative aspects, like Mario needing oxygen in 3D games.

It is a bit odd, isn't it? The most-often complaint I've seen is exactly this; that most of the cast shouldn't scale to Sonic and his 2-C rating even assuming it's valid.

I can understand the sentiment, they don't really grasp 2-C and how the characters would still be in the Tier even with as much downscaling as possible, but to say Tails doesn't scale to Sonic? Knuckles? C'mon now, that's just a joke.

Oof... too true.

Anyone seen the rumors of a Sonic Heroes movie being developed
I have.

Right now in terms of movies it seems we have:
  • Sonic 4 (or Sonic CD. The next project to be released, confirmed).
  • Shadow the Hedgehog (The 2028 release that seems to be lined up. They have already stated they wanted to do a Shadow show, and that it could potentially become a movie depending on the momentum of Movie 3. Needless to say that 3 was a big success, so this is all-but-confirmed).
  • Sonic Heroes (The most recent development rumor).
And if the Shadow + Sonic Heroes movies are both true... this franchise really does have strong movie potential, damn.

At least he physically fought a heavily amped Metal Sonic in Mania Adventures.
The same happens in IDW with an empowered Heavy King. Both are notable Accelerated Development moments for all characters involved, in AP, Durability, Lifting Strength and Speed. Superpowered Metal Sonic initially blitzing Sonic's Super Peel-Out supports the 128x multiplier I guess.

I absolutely despise Tails downplay. It's kinda Sonic Team's fault for leaning further into the "he needs tech" shtick & his uninspired moveset in Frontiers compounds this ten-fold too.
This is something I really hope "Frontiers 2" fixes.

It felt cool as hell to see Amy using Tarot Cards in combat/movement (The floaty Glide and her Tarot Boost) and it gave her some insane movement tech.

Knuckles felt a little underwhelming in terms of combat for me (an absolute crime btw) but it was still a treat to use various different abilities alongside that drill-like Power Boost he had.

Tails just fell to the wayside by comparison. Infinite wrenches instead of throwing a single punch, the dubious "Homing Attack" that got him stuck, none of it felt cool except for the absolute kickass Cyclone Boost he had. His Parry animation of using a Yellow Spring was absolutely hilarious but not exactly cool. His Cyloop-Gun thingy was neat. But the fact that the BEST THING Tails had going for him was his damn Power Boost is so... lame.

Not just her, the general populace did.Don’t forget the entire story started because the world mistook Sonic for Shadow. In verse they are supposed to be doppelgängers.

In the Sega website bios, Silver’s bio says that his combat abilities can compete with Sonic and Shadow’s.
Sonic and Shadow have similar enough silhouettes to where I'm sure the average normie can look at them moving at high speeds on camera in-universe and confuse them pretty easily.

Aka narrative scaling, yeah. That's how I truly like scaling in a crossover scenario.
Why Leon S. Kennedy scales to Goku (I had to use a mix of crosss-scaling from Super Robot Wars, Mega Man X-Dive, Dreammix TV World Fighters, Smash, J-Stars, and other shit to get there).

Sorta. Idk, just feels vaguely similar if anything. Though I will say it was really funny how it was done in Sonic X LMAO

Chris would buy into it at first since he doesn't have a good enough frame of reference on other fast Hedgehogs so of course his expectations are different compared to we the audience TBH.

A Tribute Games/Dotemu beat em up a la Shredder's Revenge/Cosmic Invasion would do Sonic & Co. Sooo much justice. I wish...

I see Sonic 4 ending on a cliffhanger as to build excitement and reason to watch Sonic Heroes, which'll be an Avengers like deal. Whatever direction they wanna go after that is anyone's guess. I'm down for another original story that adapts multiple things into one to create something crazy and new. Maybe Frontiers meets Unleashed or something, or even just have other SEGA characters show up as cameos later.

I do have a feeling we could potentially get higher end Dreamworks type numbers depending on how things go, but we'll see. All depends on how they develop the series, and how they may wanna evolve the audience. At the very least, they're doing nice in most Western markets, but they face steeper competition in Eastern ones against franchises like Monsterverse. That and shit going on internally with Paramount right now will be a factor.

Idk, the camera clearly shows him looking completely different than Sonic. Bro even has more of a tan than Sonic's HWITE boy ass.
