My Hero Academia General Discussion Thread #18

Hii ☺️

Please have a look at whether my arguments for 5-C Deku makes sense😊
k, I will
Multi-City Block level, Multi-Continent level with Full Cowl (With a single punch, he cleared the skies from Japan to the United States of America while on his last legs.[54][Statistic Value 6] After going past his limits, he could decimate Rampage Form Dark Might, whom he was unable to harm earlier in his Golden Age Form[55]), far higher with 100% (Stated that One For All was slightly stronger than what All Might had at his disposal[40][Statistic Value 7 : 2.542 exatons of TNT]), even higher with Fa Jin(Fa Jin can store the combined power of his Detroit Smash Quintuple,[34] making its release more than five times stronger than normal.[Statistic Value 8 : 12.71 exatons of TNT]),Moon level with gearshift (Gearshift allows Deku to output five punches in an instant with Quintuple Detroit Smash, thereby making him 5 times stronger [Statistics value 9 : 63.55 exatons of TNT],This power can increase even further by using Gearshift: Overdrive, a technique so powerful it could punch a hole into Shigaraki.[34] Was stated to be able to charge enough energy to annihilate Shigaraki's body with a single attack, leaving no trace of him behind[33])

Basically,an extra x5 multiplier for Deku due to Detroit Smash Quintuple. If you're interested in hearing my arguments, please let me know ☺️
Ok, well, I think I understand where you're coming from but I'm not too sure it'll work (Though, i'm sure there can be arguments for it).
IMO, a safe estimate for gearshift (especially overdrive) would be to be 1.2x or 2.2x since the technique is state to bring out 120% of deku's 100%

Hey gang. Welcome to the site and, as one of deku's loyal supporters, I appreciate your enthusiasm but would you mind telling us the evidence to back up your claim?
Believe, I would love Deku to be that high but I'd hate to see a promising new member have to deal with people eager to shoot you down this early in the game
Ooooooo I just saw the reply meant for me lol😆

Oh okay I understand, lemme present my argument☺️.

Deku can comfortably reach 5-C with fa jin and gearshift because :

Fa Jin is accepted to be a 5x multiplier from being able to store the energy of Quintuple Detroit Smash. Even though it's not used, it's also known that Quintuple is a x5 multiplier, right?? So if that's the case, then my argument is that Deku is at least moon level when he combines fa jin with gearshift.

After AFO took the Quintuple Detroit Smash hit,he said that it was weaker than the first overdrive and included that it could have been stronger if Deku added fa jin to it(couldn't get a link to that part of the fight on YouTube). This means that Deku could have used QDS + fa jin(gearshift is noted as one of the quirks that could work along with fa jin), and this combo is already making him 25 times stronger (x5 from both fa jin and gearshift). Deku didn't do this though. Why? There are reasons to explain this.

All Deku fans know that Deku doesn't hold back, especially on AFO and Shiggy. We also know that Deku is a very efficient fighter, alongside being the user of these two quirks. From observations,it is seen that Deku invested fa jin into gearshift: overdrive not just once, but TWICE during the fight in the UA flying fortress. In fact I can say that Deku was not using gearshift and fa jin, he was using gearshift: overdrive and fa jin. In the first instance, the fa jin was derived from consecutive punches with the lower gears of gearshift, and then given to overdrive. In the second instance, after Deku had already derived fa jin from QDS,he went straight to activate overdrive without using the other lower gears or trying any other moves at all. From this,it can be concluded that overdrive is absolutely gearshift's most powerful asset, and that is absolutely why Deku invested fa jin to overdrive when he was dishing out his attacks. In short, Deku didn't waste fa jin on QDS because Overdrive + fa jin >>> QDS + fa jin. This also means that overdrive alone supplies more power than QDS, Deku chose overdrive and fa jin over QDS with fa jin(overdrive >>> x5)

Therefore, even though Deku didn't do QDS + fa jin combo, it's not something that he couldn't do, but because there was a better option it wasn't needed. So an extra x5 multiplier for Deku due to QDS can be accepted for gearshift Deku and that the power he wields with gearshift can get higher with overdrive. The only multiplier given unto us by the MHA author for gearshift is x5 due to QDS, and so saying that he's at least 5 times stronger with gearshift cannot be refuted because overdrive is clearly the strongest part of gearshift and no information is known about the other parts of gearshift that can clearly prove that this claim is wrong.

Does it look good 😊

Moon level with gearshift (Gearshift allows Deku to output five punches in an instant with Quintuple Detroit Smash, thereby making him 5 times stronger [Statistics value 9 : 63.55 exatons of TNT]
Why is gear shift a 5x multiplier
and if i’m reading this right, you’re saying deku outputing 5 punches stacked untop the detroit smash makes him 5x stronger? that’s not quite how multiplier is treated
welcome to the wiki tho

Ok, now this is a surprised. I knew quite a few high-tier characters were High 6-A... BUT MOONFISH?! Bro... those are some strong ahh teeth.😭
The scaling is a bit off, to me. The damage that Gang Orca inflicts on a Near-High End isn't anywhere close to the damage that Star and Stripe's attack dealt to a different Near-High End.

I agree that Moonfish and Gang Orca scaling is bunk, but why did you choose the worst way to phrase that?

Why are you comparing the damage between two unrelated characters? If you damage a character with a physical attack, you scale to them. Unless there's like a massive size different or surface area, but that's a different issue all together and would still lead to something. If one character breaks the arm of another character with a punch, and someone else just bruises their arm with a punch, why would the second character not scale to the person he hurt?

Why not point out that Gran Orca likely doesn't even injure the High-End?

He just grabs it and uses his hypersonic waves on it, which are meant to paralyze. We have no idea if the injuries on the High-End were caused by Gang Orca, and we don't know if his own injuries were caused by the High-End. He fought and seemed to have beaten Moonfish offscreen, those could be injuries from that encounter. The fact Gang Orca only noticed that the High-End isn't regeneration when he jumped up and grabbed onto it suggest that he just entered the fight.

The injuries were likely caused by the combined efforts of the other heroes and whatever Quirks they have.

At least, those are my thoughts.

Well, they're not completely unrelated - Gang Orca gets his rating from the Near-High End and the Near-High End gets his rating from Star and Stripe currently.

Aside from that I do agree with you about your poitns on Gang Orca.

Both points are valid. Every High End and Near High End are basically scaled the same as Hood, so comparing Gang Orca's feat against a NHE to Star damaging a NHE is perfectly fine.

I think there's nuance to be discussed when it comes to the difference of the level of harm inflicted on a character and how that scales, but with how simplistic scaling gets we end up with that.

It's why I think it's better for ratings justifications to spell out the actual feat instead of the generic "Character X harmed/take hits from Character Y" which sometimes obfuscates details. A lot of profiles (not necessarily MHA's) just goes on scaling circles with nothingburger justifications.

Hello 🤗

Thanks for reviewing. I explained my arguments here.

Basically, gearshift is a 5 times multiplier because that's the only multiplier given unto us due to Quintuple Detroit Smash(Quintuple Detroit Smash means that Deku output five Detroit Smashes in one hit, correlate it to the way Deku did double Detroit Smash with All Might and Bakugo in the MHA movies).

From Deku's fighting style,it is clear that overdrive is gearshift's most busted technique, and so it scales above QDS which is a x5 multiplier.

He did not stack five punches in one with Gearshift, he punched Shigaraki so fast that five punches were perceived as one attack. Two very different things.

That doesn't apply to Deku btw, his strength comes from the accumulated energy of One For All, not just from the muscles of his legs, which are obviously stronger than the muscles in his arms. That's why our kicks in real life are much stronger than our punches.

At most, you could use that for Mirko and have her punches listed as five times weaker than her kicks, but it would be unnecessary because she doesn't use punches to fight.

It’s such a damn peak multiplier man

The only problem with this is that kicks aren't shown to be that much stronger in fights when they are used on people as opposed to punches. Even if you used this exclusively for Mirko it still has inconsistencies via her Nomu and Shigaraki fights. At best this is what the gap between Tiger Bunny's punches and kicks are.

True. However

Can you explain yourself with a simple example?

If the only scaling a character has is hurting someone, what are you suppose to do?

What details are missing when someone scales to another because they hurt them?
Hello 🤗

Can you give your thoughts about my 5-C Deku arguments☺️

Oh I'm not too sure about that😞

I have seen that it has already been said multiple times that OFA increases power in an exponential manner because according to power scaling,a mere 1.2x or 2.2x increase in power and speed isn't enough to make a character blitz another character so hard he perceives his opponent like a snail THREE TIMES STRAIGHT,and also blow a hole in the opponent's torso.
