I believe the magnitude used in this calc should be changed. (Scans)

One of the characteristics of a mag 5 earthquake is that it is "Felt by all, many frightened". This is true for this earthquake.
Felt by all: The ?! text box is the group's reaction to the earthquake, everyone there quickly notices the shaking. At the least you could say that it is "Felt outdoors by many or most" which would be mag 4-5.
Many frightened: Yuji and Hana show a frightened reaction to the earthquake.

Due to this, magnitude 5 could be used for the earthquake. Although, due to how little the earthquake shows and due to the pebbles not appearing to be moving (As Sun said), a magnitude of 4.5 could also be used.

Sun also says the trees don’t seem to be moving. They do seem to be moving to me, due to all the lines on them. This isn’t that clear though.

The lines indicate shock and vibration, yes, but that’s not the same as trees visibly swaying or dropping leaves. Minor vibrations occur even at lower magnitudes so that really can't be used to argue Mag 5. Other evidences of a magnitude 5 like people being awakened, minor damage, displacement aren’t shown in your scans. The ‘felt by all’ refers to the wider vicinity, not just an isolated group. A quake of that strength would also be serious enough to reach the news. If it has so little support for mag 5 I'll have to disagree

Even slight shaking would make it mag 5.

This would still qualify as "Felt outdoors by few during the day", which would still be mag5.

Every magnitude of EQs vibrate shit to a degree

You need to prove it does at a special enough intensity if you wanna qualify for the magnitude level you want

“This structure is affected” is evidence for nothing outside range

This is literally a line from Mag 4 requirements…you just slapped in Mag 5 at the end

It says all / most people in the affected area should feel it, you’ve only shown one isolated area with a handful couple of people, that doesn’t even remotely qualify for what that site listed
if there is anything to consider

Kenjaku (who might be far from the cast) could also have sensed it, though I dont know if its concrete as he additionally had curse spirits to watch Gojo in the deep when he comes out

But that is a possible thing to add

Slight shaking is Mercalli Intensity 5, but Richter Magnitude 4. For Magnitude 5 and up you would need actual swaying in trees.

Considering everyone within the local group seems immediately terrified of an earthquake I think there is plausibly an argument to be made for Magnitude 4.5, but I think @Ghostimuscrime is right in that there just isn’t enough actual physical disturbance either on the ground or in the trees for Magnitude 5.

yeah I don't think that magnitude 5 should be utilized but 4.5 could be possible

Agree (Although I think mag 4.5 fits more) Jogo's meteor's meteor is what actually deserves a higher earthquake scale since it literally shook buildings for several seconds

I feel like Mahito's body repel shaking Shibuya is also too low in magnitude. It's at least a mag 5, likely even higher

I swear I’m not a gooner
