My Hero Academia General Discussion Thread #18

Bro lost to Muzan and Makima twice. King of L's fr
Nevermind make it 14 losses. What the hell is happening to bro. Its like hes trying to beat Deku's 17 wins by surpassing it with 17 losses 😭

Does Prime All Might stand a chance against MCU Sentry (3 exatons), or would Deku/Shigaraki be better matchups?

The fiber is dipped in Aura detection liquid aka Piccolo's sweat. It responds to the Auramagentic waves of the user. If nullifies speed, power and ls if the the targets Aura is lower the Aizawa. Thus it is effective against everyone in the verse.

Small CRT.

Small CRT.

Can you add Deku being able to resist possession since theres just 2 random minor mha crts now

Is it just me or is MHA's ending a little too close to KNY.

Big Bad guy takes/is given a drug that effects aging, turns into a baby and dies. Also attempts to transfer his mind into the protagonist.

Sure, if you bring the scans for it.

Wouldn’t AFO have to lose his Fusionism, then? Because Monoma and AFO do the exact same thing.

They deleted it but I managed to see it. Looks good. Still MHA. But good. Like Sports festival quality good.

No.

AFO created new Quirks like Warp Gate and One For All by fusing multiple Quirks together.

Monoma cannot fuse Quirks together. He's limited to using one Quirk at a time. That's the big problem he had in the Final War, he couldn't use Warp Gate without deactivating Erasure. From what I saw, Monoma just used a Quirk and then switched to another one. He didn't combined those Quirks to make a new Quirk or power.

Fusionism: "A character's ability to fuse anything together to create a new form. The user can fuse together objects, powers, emotions, concepts, living beings, etc., turning them into single unit."

No, it's explicitly said he's Combining Quirks.

"He's COMBINING COPIED QUIRKS?!"

He also uses more than one at once, having overcome his need to switch.

"That's was AMAZING, using MULTIPLE COPIED QUIRKS!"

You even explicitly see him turn the Legos he generates into Smoke, (and vice versa, as he first generates Smoke to throw as Legos), and generating both at once (Legos and Smoke). While it's definitely not the exact same as AFO's Fusionism, Monoma has clearly fused the Quirks together to some degree. Though he does note a limit--"It seems he can only use his Quirk this way, huh?"--Seemingly when describing Tetsutetsu's, implying that certain Quirks are beyond his ability to mix.

EDIT: (It should also be noted the whole theme around this chapter centers around that fusionism. Monoma combines his Copies to better the world via creating newer things--Manifesting the idea of standing on the shoulders of giants/self awareness of greatness manifested by the past, unlike the guy he's taking down, who makes fakes and stomps on the original. In fact, when they see Monoma pull this off, the other characters straight up talk about this lesson in depth and how it applies to consumerism and capitalism. More specifically, in product creation that combines ideas to make newer, better products. Part of the page where they start talking about it here. It's only two sentences, but you can clearly see how they're about to talk about it:

"Of course! Let's combine our power and do our best!"

and

"Imitation is a staircase that leads one to even higher heights."
"Using copying to progress further... That's it!!")

He can't combined Quirks. It's literally canon in the main manga that Monoma can't use more than one Quirk at a time even in the Final Arc of the series.

I don't give a damn what that says. I also disagree with what you're saying to begin with. Nothing said he created a new power, you just want it to be like that. It's no different than how Shoto "combines" his fire and ice to created the Flashfreeze Heatwave. I've not read whatever you're reference so I don't know how the Quirks work, and you seem to not care about explaining in your CRT.

Using the word combine means nothing.

Wait-wait-wait.

So your basis to disagreeing with the literal, objective exposition of them saying he is, in fact, combining Quirks, and using multiple powers at once, and what we literally see (semi-lego brick-smoke things, using both at once), is not having read the source?

Okay. Sure. Anyway.

The Source comes from My Hero Academia, Team-Up Mission, Chapter 44.

Which, you know, is canon. Like the rest of MHA Team-Up Mission.

Where they explicitly state, wholesale, that he uses multiple Quirks at once and can Combine Quirks. While we don't know the processes or the exact parameters of these newfound skills, these are objectively stated within the chapter and are undeniable. Saying "I don't care what that says," doesn't actually prove what it's objectively saying false.

You do have a valid point in that within the Final War, Monoma can't do that, but given Monoma literally implies he has limits on his Quirk Combination and Multi-Use ("He can only use his Quirk like that, huh?" Talking to himself about a Copied Quirk) which forces him to ONLY use Tetsutetsu's and NOTHING ELSE, that just implies, to me, that Erasure and Warp Gate are within that category. Additionally, Monoma very visibly STRAINS himself and takes time to get the combo to work, which was the only point of Aizawa's thoughts, so there's no plot hole. If Monoma went to do that, he'd still take the effect off of Shigaraki, which ends the whole Coffin in the Sky in the same way Aizawa was referring to with basic switching.

Lastly, we don't know the exact parameters of the Quirks within the Chapter, but they are partially explained. The girl creates Cotton out of nothing, the lego man makes bricks at a touch, and the third guy generates repulsive force. Monoma in this moment is literally turning cotton he generates into bricks as he uses the Quirks at once and at the same time firing them (using his repulsive effect). And we see that in a panel down, he reverses it, (turning brick into cotton, which isn't apart of the described movesets), showing clear simultaneous use and using the powers together to create a new thing/effect. Again, not to the same degree as AFO, undeniably, because Monoma is far more limited, but he's still demonstrably doing these things. Lastly, as I mentioned before, "Joining Copys to improve" is literally the philosophy of the Chapter. It was about that guy learning a lesson through Monoma doing what is described, because he previously refused to do so, because anything that was partially imitated in any conceivable way, to his perception, was not worth making.

To recap, in a canon piece of MHA media, Monoma is literally stated and shown to use multiple Quirks at once and combining them. This is explicitly called out and we even see him perform feats each Quirk individually was incapable of doing, (reversing the Brick Transmutation Process), and is cited to have limits that are vague enough to still fit in the needs of the moment within Final War, especially given the amount of exertion Monoma needed to perform these feats, and these feats were the narrative basis/moral/theme of the whole chapter, so rejecting them (via saying the chapter is lying) is literally not possible because the narrative only works if he actually is doing what we see and hear.

EDIT: Though, I will say that considering it an outlier or plot hole is valid. But the chapter itself makes it very clear.

(NOTE: Some of the links are messed up because the forum keeps adding "https://" in the front, when it should be "blob:https//." When it doesn't work, I'd recommend just Copying and Pasting the link and deleting the additional "https://" from it.)
I tried, but those links didn't work, even when removing the https://. Maybe try something else.
