Star Wars Discussion Thread Canon/Legends- Episode VI Return of the Threadi

I heard both bad and good reviews on the Sequel series especially the final film for that matter.

More negativity on that especially with ppl not taking kindly of “Somehow Palpatine has returned”

Granted, they kinda tried to resolve that issue with other novels and some other things that should already been explained in the said film in question (TROS).

What a mess regardless
My problem with the sequel trilogy is it started out fine, acceptable even, then it dropped the ball into a ditch in movie two and a sinkhole opened up in movie three.

Rey was tolerable to start with, but she became increasingly intolerable as the movies went on... also Palpatine returning was done in Legends and it was extremely unpopular THERE too, so not sure what they were thinking.

Oh yeah, I heard of how not all fans that was aware of the Dark Empire stuff liking how Darth Sidious returned as it make what Darth Vader did in Return of the Jedi kinda pointless if he gonna resurrected himself via cloning with Sith means and all.

Although I have heard of Siths that can become spirits, but not necessarily full on Force Ghost like the Jedi who learned how to do that

In Canon, some Siths bind their Force/Spirit to something physical.

Like Darth Momin, who had his Force/Spirit trapped in his own helmet after death.

I have a somewhat complicated relationship with this movie. I'd heard so many bad things about it that when I saw it, I didn't even think it was that bad.

Of course, there are some very removable/poorly done things, like the whole Finn plot, which went nowhere. And that fight against the Plasmas, like, seriously?

I also didn't like what they did to Luke, the academy thing, and him isolating himself because of it. Although I liked how they ended his arc.

I'm not sure what I think about this movie, since it's been so long since I saw it, I don't know if I'd like it or find it acceptable if I saw it again.

I was browsing the internet looking for anything post-Disney that would tell me which lightsaber forms certain characters use, and I found a source that says that members of the Jedi Order generally practice all seven lightsaber forms, although each has their own favorite.

Interesting.

What happened to Legends character pages?

Need help trying to make notable profiles more indicative of skill

It all started with Vader glaze

Now I need sourced statements such as
  • Dooku only being able to be matched or overcome in lightsaber combat by Mace Windu and Yoda, as well as specific statements on their mastery of the lightsaber
  • Same for Palpatine
  • How skilled Anakin and Obi-Wan were
  • Any notable skill feats of individuals who should be inferior
Anything to make the skill levels more clear

Want some more Vader glaze?

I think this is it. Your new home.

Seriously, I've never done anything this big. I've changed 80 Legends profiles alone, not counting the number of changes I made to the canon profiles to remove Legends information (and I still have to add the locked profiles).

I must have forgotten something, something to remove or add.

I've never felt so tired doing something in VS Battle; I think my excitement has finally worn off. I still had canon CRTs in mind, but I think I'll leave them for later and just do the Lightsaber Combat/Jedi Arts blog, simply because it's a simple CRT and the blog is already ready.

And also because I'm going to travel and I'll only be back home next month, so I think that on a trip I shouldn't mess with vsbattle too much.

The funniest thing about all this is that this is just the beginning. It was just one organization in Legends.

And the canonical side as a whole is still quite outdated, especially the profiles that aren't Jedi/Sith and the like.

But I sincerely hope that with these CRTs and organizations, more people will become interested in the verse (and the canon).

Although I'm very tired, it's quite rewarding.

Great work! I think we all appreciate the effort you’ve put into to cleaning this up.

Although frankly I’m becoming increasingly doubtful that Legends will ever be fixed. It seems in every CRT every error is just replaced with an even greater absurdity. No one wants to fix the ridiculous highballs and yet people flock to every new excuse to somehow wank them even further.

There were 81 Legends profiles. The vast majority, if not all, are horrible profiles, no offense intended.

Apart from Starkiller because I did him the favor and, like, I did the minimum, which is to put scans and references in the B&A.

Like, it's even possible for a small group of people to update everything, because most of them are force sensitives, so a page of powers and abilities would solve a lot of the problems, but it's still a lot of work I think.

But don't give up hope, at any moment a random user might come along and start updating things, whether they're new to vsbattle or not.

I myself never imagined myself doing so much for Star Wars on vsbattle.

But BIG NUMBER MAKE DOPAMINEEEEEE!
I don't understand this. Like, okay, you have your Tier 1 characters, but what about that?

The rest of the profiles are so bad that you can't even put them in a VS thread, unless they're from the same verse.

Like, all those cosmology CRTs and Legends upgrades. I don't want to badmouth anyone, and it's not personal, but like, they spent so much time researching this and formatting it into a CRT, why couldn't they have spent more time putting it all in a blog?

Whether it's the cosmology, the character scale (especially Tier 1, etc.).

Why were all those revisions to, like, add three more characters to a small number of profiles? Isn't having a verse with explanation pages and blogs and everything nice and detailed better? More rewarding?

I'm not even talking specifically about Star Wars. I've seen other verses in VS Battle that are like that.

I could even quote it, but I don't want anyone to get mad at me.

I my views on each of the Sequels can be summed up as so:

The Force Awakens: A nothing burger that needs to ride on the coattails of the next movie to stand.
The Last Jedi: It's trying to say something, but because of pacing issues, wasting almost half of its runtime on filler, and not including deleted scenes, it falls flat on its face before it could say it. And has so much low hanging fruit and wasted potential the could've easily made the audience forgive the movie in their eyes.
Rise of Skywalker: The most aggravating movie of all that is keen on insisting to the audience, "Trust us here... Despite what you have watched, Rey was NOT Sith Lord by the end of this movie. We repeat: SHE'S NOT A SITH LORD!! And whatever Jedi Order Rey establishes is NOT going to end up in flames. Just trust us bro. And whatever you do, DO NOT LOOK AT EITHER THE JEDI OR SITH CODES OR ATRIS AND TRY TO HOLD REY'S ACTIONS UP AGAINST THEM!!"

2008, probably not canonical.

Right now, I'm trying to find general statements about the Jedi. Like, how skilled they are compared to warriors who don't use the Force.

I only remember Anakin saying in Episode 1 that Jedi can't be defeated. But I wanted something more.

You can't just add calculations like that.

Current calculations that are not on the site remain and can be used because they are old and there is nothing to replace them.

New calculations added to pages must be done according to the new blog calculation standards and approved by staff. Please don't do this again.

Well, I have an entire laundry list of off-site calcs of Expanded Universe feats, what might be the most appropriate thing to do?

"This is not your domain, Keeper. It is mine. It has always been mine. All you have built here, all you hope to control-- It falls apart as easily as a human life. An hour ago, the Minister of Intelligence dropped to his knees and wept before me. You would do so too, if not for fear of being humiliated." ~ Darth Jadus

I'd say get skill set up for the listed characters first, you need the full blog ready before CRTing.
I think I can finish the ones already on the blog, at least with each one having a statement of something.

But it's impossible to do them all at the moment. Would it be okay if I mentioned in the CRT that this section is incomplete so people can add to it later?

Actually, can non-staff members edit blogs? Otherwise, I don't think I'll even do this section of character statements and deeds, because it will be something that's basically always incomplete.

No.

Nope!

No.

Nope!
That's weird, like, some things can't be turned into pages. I mean, they can, but there are no categories.

Even blogs sometimes have something missing. I mean, the staff can update it through the user, but it's still pretty annoying.

Well, I think the CRT will just be without the declarations and deeds section. I think I'll just keep it in a sandbox and maybe someday do a major update to the characters' Weapon Mastery justification.

Although frankly I’m becoming increasingly doubtful that Legends will ever be fixed.
I was reading the first messages in this general discussion, and I think it's crazy how in 2023 they talked about removing the 5B/4B justifications and how they were being reviewed and etc, but... it never happened...

I'm not Legends, but any help you need, I can help.
