I see. Though, even if he can dodge the first dive kicks, I would still say that Toji can eventually tag him, since he can hit the guys with
Visions (Although to be fair, this is only with SSK ingame, so it probably just involves true damage interacting with iframes, but I’ll still mention it just in case it means anything)
How potent is the energy absorption exactly? If it doesn’t outright drain all of his energy and stamina in seconds, I think he can deal with it well enough, considering how much the players generally have to handle negative effects arsenal. Toji is able to dash away from LoC's javelins (
which is also shown that normal players cannot do), so he should be able to dodge Hurricane Chest well enough; he also gets thrown around a lot, so getting caught by it probably won’t be that bad. And if Toji manages to close the distance,
he can sneak around Albion's attacks mid-fight (maybe I should give him Stealth Mastery?), or use
Chain of 1,000 Miles to stab him. So he isn’t really helpless when facing Albion's various arsenal.
I mean, he probably could yeah, but that becomes way harder when Albion uses skate mode, which is big speed modifier (and also upgraded from Abliter, who upon using it started to literally skate circles around Fly, who was previously too fast for him to effectively hit), and Aiden had to resort to amps to hit him even when he was successfully predicting his movement patterns. Considering the ap diff, Albion would wanna avoid being hit at any cost, so he should bust out skate mode relatively fast. He can also make hundreds of afterimages as he moves, which I’m unsure Toji has experience with from what I can tell.
As for energy absorption, it’s kinda strong but it’s mostly a buffer for him to weaken his enemy and raise his own stats while wearing them down with other stuff. It was good enough for Aiden to have to acknowledge that it was draining him, and iirc he said that he couldn’t afford to have a prolonged fight or Albion would get too strong (and likewise, he’d get too weak, although he had ways to restore himself). This stuff is a few years old, so I’ll prolly have to check to be sure. Toji being at High 6-A greatly helps him though. It’ll be a while before they basically are equalized in attack.
Hurricane Chest is basically a gigantic air cannon from Albion’s chest (obviously), by the looks of the video it would have a lot more range than that attack did. It basically encompasses everything in front of him for hundreds of meters (including stuff on the sides and in the air). My point with that was that if Toji is attacking Albion straight up, he’d have to be very quick on his feet to dodge it.
Sneaking around Albion is rendered pretty much ineffective thanks to battlefield mapping (he has a mental image of the battlefield and marks down all combatants, so even if he goes invisible he’ll be tracked the same). So stealth mastery isn’t really gonna cut it. Chain of 1000 miles ironically has poor range, so Albion should be able to dodge it.
On that note, I did check Toji’s range and noticed that it falls woefully short of Albion’s. In this key even his basic lasers are in the hundreds of kilometers range, his charge shots and megalaser are much higher and his cords can stretch for thousands of kilometers. Toji’s range caps at tens of meters. So Albion could very easily camp him out and try to land a Neptune Wave
(blasts a repeating wave of sound which disorients his opponent and traps them in a loop of full body pain, interfering with brain signals)(Toji does not resist this) to stop him from moving before cutting him down with his blade, which has dura neg properties (which are enhanced by suppression fire/plasma coating).
I think Albion has a lot of wincons (or at least a lot more ways to reach them considering amps and range) while toji only has a few, at least based on what I can tell. More input might be needed though.
