So here's a question that's been bothering me for awhile now. Why the hell do we not have speed ratings for the various weapons in the Star Wars series, namely blasters and other types of guns? You'd think with how major of a verse this is in the Americas, people would've gotten to that by now.

As above the verse is incredibly outdated (frankly I would struggle to find a single character AP rating for Legends that I agree with aside from the handful that got updated this past week, with 99% of characters are currently scaled to easily debunkable feats).

There was like a 5 year period when CRTs were getting blocked because a larger elusive CRT was “just around the corner” and “we might as well do it right” except that CRT never showed up and has since been abandoned. A new series of revisions are now underway so this is starting to finally get corrected.

It would be wacky even for base blasters to rate speeds, like If I recall there is one source that Blasters are considered Lightspeed as they are are “Light Energy” and blasters actually fire invisible beams, with the blaster bolts being the visible light pulse from the “out of this world” Star Wars trilogy guide book

Is that guidebook pre-Disney or post-Disney?

I can do Darth Marr if ya'll get scaling done properly

Could you post the quote? From what I remember for Legends, Turbolasers, Laser Cannons, I-Fives’s laser and ‘most energy weapons’ have lightspeed statements, while slugthrowers have a hypersonic statement, but I don’t remember a statement for the speed of the particle beams of regular handheld blasters.

The question wasn't directed at me, but anyways, it's actually listed in a VSBW blog called "speed of blasters".

"Energy weapons fire invisible energy beams at lightspeed. The visible "bolt" is a glowing pulse that travels along the beam at less than lightspeed (...) The light given off by visible bolts depletes the overall energy content of a beam, limiting its range. Turbolasers gain a longer range by spinning the energy beam, which reduces waste glow."

Ah yes thanks, I remember that one. This refers to energy weapons and turbolasers specifically, not the particle beam weaponry of regular blasters.

Blasters are energy weapons as well though, unless I'm missing something?

Nah blasters are plasma based weapons that use gas cartridges as ammunition, the blaster then ionises the gas and fires it off as a physical particle beam.

Energy weapons refer to weapons that use pure energy projectiles/beams like laser weapons, electrostatic guns, shatter beams, disruptor rifles, and energy cannons.

Ok, thanks. In the end I'd assume it doesn't change anything since Force users react to them just fine but either way it's important to distinguish.

Yeah it doesn’t matter for the FTL scaling since Force Users have blocked or dodged pretty much every type of energy weapon on that list plus I-Five’s special lasers and regular turbolasers.
