I’m seeing sections on some pages of the wiki listing users under “supporters” and “opponents”. What does this mean?

Not very relevant to the verse itself then, is it? What, are we just going to put every user who likes a verse on its page?

No, it's mainly for knowledgeable members who either like or dislike the verse. They usually have to write themselves in that section so only those who want to be considered as such are.
It's for when there's a thread regarding a verse and it needs input from someone knowledgeable on it so people know who's the right person to ask
