There is a problem going on with the scp wikidot page. It was hacked.
unknown.png

This isnt fake from what I seen. https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/

BTW they also took down D&D, Backrooms, and the soulsborne lore compendium on Wikidot. Which is to say, if you know about Wikidot, you probably know why what happened... happened.

L + ratio moment

but on a real note it sucks all this hard work has come to a standstill because of one bear fighting Russian.

Yeah i feel you, though to be fair we are all in a state of information war, Russian sites have been struck by americans/europeans so some hacker decided to strike back.
Tbh i think it's bad in the case of both parties.

WELL ****. What does Putin want with SCPs?
Man some people just really hate SCP.
Can't say I'm happy some salty pissant russian skids stole userdata from all of wikidot.

I suppose that it is because Wikidots provides creativity from freer community, which would be not liked by information manipulators IRL through excessive censorship and propaganda. Maybe we VS Battles Wiki forum and FANDOM should have some defensive measures against such potential threat because it would not be the last time a website being attacked for issues IRL.

Anyway, I do hope Wikidots could become normal again. The good thing is that some of pages have been archived and you can still watch such pages in archive sites.

You got too cocky scpbros, the russiamale always wins

Least they managed to retain all the data and can restore it later once this whole thing's been sorted out

Kinda makes you wonder what a nutjob can do when he's handed over the reins to an entire country.

While I'm sorry that the thread may have risk of being nuked for "political discussion", taking measures to better defend our community from cyberattack is important.
but talking about putin and stuff is. I never said not to defend our community or to discuss it, i said that we shouldn't discuss russian and overall world politics here.

Anyways i don't really think that OUR community is in danger, i'd say our site is pretty safe. You know what ain't safe? Fandom. So we should be worried about our fandom side and not this side.

You're right. Wikis has higher rate of being attacked than a minor forum and the only thing left to us is hoping that it won't happen in FANDOM.

i do wish that they're security is tough. In my opinion causing damage to innocent sites is wrong even if you're answering to attacks on your country. It's the same kind of illogical action as Supercell banning their games in russia rn, like who're they fighting against, 8 year olds? Same goes here. If it was some important site then at least i would get the point of that but breaking wikidot? What's the bloody point? Nobody uses that stuff.

I mean of course, cyberattack has nothing to do with being political, we can keep the cyberattack protection discussions active.

We do use Cloudflare already for this forum, but maybe we need more? I have asked our system manager about it.

I suppose so. If somebody has genuinely good suggestions for how to better protect this forum, please mention them.

Would Graybeard Security or Truesec be good options? I recall hearing about them somewhere.

I wonder if this hacking incident is going to be incorporated in future SCPs and tales.

Tbh they should just move kinda like how we did. If wikidot's so weak it gets nuked by a random russian hacker, they should chose a better... Idk how to call it but basically sty safer than wikidot.

Realistically, no site is safe if someone decides to dedicate themselves to taking it down. They were just hit by bad luck.
