Naoto Kurogane vs Patchouli Knowledge

People in Touhou love to abuse their range, flight and Danmaku.

Lack of flight and much inferior range kills Naoto here, Patchouli will fly and bombard him with danmaku until he dies. Voting Patchouli.

Patchouli, flight and danmaku plus barriers give her the edge, she takes it more often than not, only downside is stamina but thst shouldn't be a huge issue.

Well, Rachel also has ranged attacks and Naoto took her down mid diff.

Anyway i will add your vote.

Anyway, i was saying that Naoto defeated Rachel, a foe similar to Patchouli in terms of power and range. Bufi will add your votes angway.

Well, Rachel isn't as much of a range abuser as Touhou characters - and she usually does fight up close. Plus her strategy isn't making a death storm of Danmaku from above, so comparing Patchy to Rachel in combat style isn't exactly right - Rachel fights others head on, TP characters fight by flying and bombarding the opponents non-stop with bajillions of shots until there isn't any open space to be seen.

Naoto lacks good enough tools to close a gap of someone kilometers away while his opponent keeps flying and bombarding him non-stop. Plus his range being melee and lack of flight makes it easy for Patchy to avoid him midair, since she can maneuver while he can't. Even if he does reach her at some point, Patchouli still has barriers as well and corresponding durability, so she wouldn't go down in one hit.

Also note the fact that while activating Blood Repulser (His Overdrive), he overpowered Rachel while trying not to hurt her badly in order to get information from her.

I guess that explains it.

Like I explained, my vote isn't based on his abilities at direct combat or raw power (he most likely outclasses Patchy, who is a mage, in close combat since he is an experienced fighter). The problem is that Patchy has way more ways to keep hitting him while Naoto will hardly ever get to her. This situation is like having a sword against someone who can use 10 gattling guns at once, while flying and having forcefields.

If you hit them with the sword, they die, but chances are you'll be dead way before getting any close to them.

Naoto can break through defenses with Banishing Fang. Also, he fought also Makoto, who can fire energy projectiles. Also, who said that he can't dodge her danmaku attacks? He has Shift Sway, which allows him to dodge attacks coming at him.

None of that matters if he can't reach her, and he can't dodge forever either - pretty sure Naoto never faced Danmaku at this level. He can't maneuver mid air while she can freely, he'll have to jump and then he becomes an even easier target for the bajillion shots that will be flying from every direction while his opponent is free to keep shooting and flying around from a distance as she pleases.

My vote stays with Patchouli, she has way more chances as I see it. If others want to vote Naoto, go ahead, but I legit don't see him winning this.

From the looks of it, Naoto would have to get in close range in order to damage to Patchy. But she'll use danmaku and wind elements to keep him away so I'll vote her due to her mastery over the elements, danmaku and range.

Rip you Naoto, first VS Thread and you are getting ripped by a Touhou no less :3

Seriously, Patchouli is a Touhou characters which means spam bullets like crazy, not only Naoto has to take care of that, but he will never get close to her due to the dude lack of range attacks, him taking on Rachel and Makoto doesn't mean anything, those two surely don't have the same insane danmaku as someone from Patchouli.

And this is her Danmaku only, adding her own elemental powers + flight is more troublesome, our favorite magician has many ways to defeat Naoto and keep him from close range.

I think it's my fault for putting Naoto in a hard fight. The problem is that i didn't find a close combat fighter.

Now that i'm at it, Does anyone know a close combat fighter to put against Naoto? I'm thinking of Superman (Post-Crisis)

Lavos BB Kharn the Betrayer Gilgamesh

Superman post Crisis is Solar System, he would stomp.

Vajra Form Asura might be a good opponent, because despite having Flight, he actually fights in Close Quarters.

Okay. While your at it, i made a thread called Lubbock vs Issei Hyoudou. I need votes for it. Why don't you vote?

COB, i think you somehow gave Fate a sudden heart attack and that explains why he didn't reply ovo.
