A general Futurama Reaction speed upgrade.

Now it's come to my attention that the FTL reaction's of the Futurama Cast has Been Overlooked,

how do they have FTL reaction's Well I'll show you.

but first we need to get something out of the way

In the episode A clone of my own It is mentioned that the speed of light is increased since traveling FTL is impossible (slightly contradicted by one of the feat's but I'll explain that when i get to it)

This was in response to the professor saying his Ship can travel between galaxies in mere hour's

This is further backed up By Leela saying the ship can only Go 99% light speed later despite the ship being able to travel to the edge of the universe and back in a week in Route of all evil and again in another episode i don't remember the name of

however just as a low end for what 99% light speed is in the futurama verse i will assume it takes 24 hours to get to the closest galaxy from our's So

2.5 million light years / 24 hours / light speed = 913,105,487 x light speed

Now Leela can pilot the planet express ship near perfectly in Asteroid field's and in places with very little room for error and in fights.

and even if we Ignore this We have bender and hobo's jumping out of a relativistic train (which to back up my Point of Lightspeed is FASTER in this universe is legit traveling between planet and planet.) a minute at most before it went into a prism

And Everybody Reacted (AND MOVED though them moving is an outlier) To mars passing by the planet (and it reached the planet in a few minutes)

also Fry Was able to ride a motorcycle at 15 times light speed IN FUTURAMA'S PERSPECTIVE meaning legit Million's of times FTL

and even if we go by our term's of FTL we still get FTL Reaction's

I will try posting sources Whenever i find a safe site to post the feats from Because I watched all this on netflix

I haven't watched Futurama so most of these don't make much sense to me but:

1.Is it mentioned that the speed of light in the Futurama universe is different?Otherwise i can say that distances in this universe are really small (which would make much more sense since the speed of light is a universal constant)

2.You mention something about an asteroid belt but at least in real life they aren't that dense and a spaceship could easily fly in a straight line without fear of impact.

1. Yes it's mentioned that light speed is indeed Diffrent

Quote from an episode i mentioned a clone of my own

"These are the dark matter engines i invented they allow my Starship to travel between Galaxies in mere HOURS

That's impossible you can't go faster than the speed of light

Of course not that's why scinetists increased the speed of light in 2208"

2 well even if we ignore the asteroid thing Leela still pilot's the ship while at full speed in fight's with ship's and can make sharp turn's and such

I see.

I'm still skeptical wether we should rate them as FTL reactions ,but i guess if you get another admin to agree with you the upgrade should be fine.

Well there is still Bender jumping off a reletivistic (by there standered) train

Fry piloting a Motercycle that is going (By there standered) 15 x light speed (yes they mention he's breaking the laws of physics)

and

Everybody on earth reacting to Mars Passing by earth (mars flew from where it was in the sky to just beside earth in a few minutes)

I believe this seems reasonable, but its been awhile since I watched Futurama all the way through. I don't remember Fry driving that motorcycle, could you provide a scan of it?

Um it was in the episode "law and oracle"

oh also I remebered wrong He was going 15 Miles over the speed of light Not 15 times the speed of light

Here's a link (sorry for the poor quality it's the onlyone i could find)

Well, we likely cannot rate othervise mostly street level characters as having MFTL+ reflexes, for the same reasons thst we cannot rate every single Star Trek, Star Wars, or othervise science fiction pilot in fiction in the same manner:

It is strictly plot convenience, and not intended to be interpreted as vast superhuman statistics displayed in any instance whatsoever other than star ship piloting specifically.

In addition, Futurama runs on gag humor poking fun at plot conveniences, and as such should be taken even less seriously.

But they Have feats of reacting to light other than starship piloting

and Most the time they React at FTL speed's outside the space ship it's Very rarely for a joke

like Fry perfectly driving an FTL motorcycle Or Bender jumping off a relativistic train (Which you could argue was the set up for a joke but it wasn't the main part of the joke) or everyone on earth running when they see mar's

one of the only jokes I can think of that involves Them reacting to FTL (by our standard) things is policemen reacting to Laser fire ricocheting off laser proof glass

But I'm pretty sure i can find More Instances of people reacting to laser fire.

and if we Take the Futurama is a gag series argument as a thing Then i guess gag series's can't ever use most there feat's because most their feat's are jokes

and as another thing Even if we can't Upgrade the humans to FTL speed's I think robot's like bender should be upgraded as such Because Robot's like bender have shown Superhuman feats before.

Well, I am uncertain. I have watched the entire series, and if they had MFTL+ reflexes, then virtually no dangerous situation that they had ever encountered would have been the slightest bit dangerous, as their surroundings would be constantly frozen to their perceptions.

Well Off the top of my head For dangerous situation's of which people reacted where they needed to react at FTL movement's

In "law and oracle" Fry needed to again drive a FTL Bike while performing tricks and doding a reckless driver/trying to avoid other drivers

In "the 30% iron chief" Bender Jumped off a train Before it was refracted Which would have split him into 7 pieces/killed him

In "bender's big score" the don bot's mook's Clamps and that other guy who's name i forgot Needed to physically shoot laser weaponry outside the space ships window at Death sphear's which you could argue are big But i argue they still need to aim at said thing's at FTL speed's (see this for what i mean https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMldEs0rf8o the feat is at ~ 0:49 it's also a pretty epic moment as a whole)

And as for other situation's most dangerous situations, I remember them being in are Spaceship battle's/ situation's where they were stranded on a planet. or when people were pointing/firing lasers at them.

Hmm. I suppose, although as far as I remember, generally speaking, they were just treated as having low superhuman speed at best in most of their interactions with other characters. Oh well, it is possibly just standard story inconsistency.

Yeah

Though if you still feel uncertain on upgrading the human's

Can we at least agree on robot's having MFTL+ reaction's since they've shown to be in general more super human in stats then reguler futurama humans

I think that this should probably be enough.
