Ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to first edition of the Official Pokemon Tournament (OPT) of the vsBattles wiki!

Let me tell you quickly the rules:

1) 2 pokemon will fight 1 v 1.

2) No trainer is present, no human, and no other life form.

3) The pokemon are assumed to be experienced in fighting and can use every move available to them, including Egg moves and tutor moves (the last part may change, though)

4) The only winning condition is KO or death!

Without further delay, let me introduce you the contenders for the title!

Venusaur (2) and Lapras (5)

The winner will fight Milotic!

The fight takes place in the Whirl Islands (watch out for the whirlpools)!!

Both are female.

600px-131Lapras
600px-003Venusaur

Honestly quite fitting. Both are slow, dino-like, powerful and bulky Pokemon who Red used on his team. Both are pretty evenly matched too in terms of typing - Lapras' ice moves will be hitting just as hard as Venusaur's grass moves (for the most part).

So it comes down to moves. Venusaur's main advantages are that it has sleep manip in a couple of forms, more than reliable healing/absorption, other status effects and, of course, frenzy plant which is sure to hit for a LOT of damage. Lapras... just has more, sadly. Rain Dance nerfs Venusaur's main way of healing + one of its strongest moves (solarbeam), can protect from Venus' status effects with safeguard/cure them with refresh/use sleep talk to not care about sleep/hydration + rain dance combo, and has precognition in future sight, its own sleep manip, and four OHKO moves (technically speaking, one's AZ and one's BFR). Not to say that Venusaur doesn't have a chance, but as soon as Lapras busts out one of its OHKO moves, it's over.

Also, Lapras benefits more from tutor moves w/ stuff like Icy Wind + Heal Bell compared to... worry seed.

2 things: Destiny bond and Perish Song are not allowed.

I was referring more to Sheer Cold. Unless you're talking about all OHKO moves?

This was more about both Lapras and the upcoming Chandelure and Dusknoir.

Also, OHKO are game mechanics. Forget about that.

Lapras vs Milotic is probably just stall, until Nessie busts out AZ

Milotic can have a beam struggle, just saying. Ovo

Venusaur via higher speed and good special attack. 1 Leaf Storm = Dead Lapras
Two can play that game

1 Sheer Cold = Dead Venusaur

Also Venusaur doesn't one-shot, since I'm assuming that we still use vsbw-esque one shot gaps, and Nessie is phat. 99% sure Venusaur doesn't one shot in game either tbh

Lapras' special attack is 85, Venusaur's special defense is 100. I doubt he'll one-shot. It's far more plausible Venusaur will since his special attack is 100 to Lapras' 95 special defense, and Venusaur is still faster

He's still weak to it, so I'm pretty sure it can one shot him. And that's Venusaur is a little faster, but it should also be noted the HP advantage Lapras has 130 vs 80.

Guys, neither one-shots the other. Super effective moves doubles the power of attacks, and they're somewhat comparable in bulk + power, so that's not enough to one-shot.

Lapras, however, can one-shot cause AZ ignores durability. Or put Venusaur to sleep by singing, which should be quicker than a leaf storm.

Sleep powder+petal blizzard sums this up.
Lapras can safeguard before sleep powder connects, and can counter with its own sleep manip/ice moves/AZ

Sleep powder has more travel time than it takes to set up a barrier.

Might i say that this wiki don't consider In-game stats. so there is no reason to compare stats when they are irrelevant

Also, the Tutor Moves are banned, unless this can take place here since is a pokemon vs a pokemon...

I think it's more of a Pokemon battle with vsbw rules than a vsbw battle featuring Pokemon.

By this logic, Venusaur takes this, he is faster, so he will attack first, can survive two ice beam, and ko Lapras with two Petal Dance. The only way to Lapras win this is using Sheer Cold, but it have 70% of chance to miss. Voting Venusaur if we are in a pokemon battle using stats

Also, use this to see if one or another survive a hit. Spoiler: I checked, and neither will ko, unless Sheer Cold hits

It being a Pokemon battle with vsbw rules doesn't mean that game mechanics are legit.

but stats itself are game mechanics... Anyway, we prob shouldn't even consider using stats here, because PaChi2 don't mention that this is a pokemon battle using VSBW rules

Pachi said on the last thread that it was strictly a Pokemon battle, cause otherwise someone like Xatu or Dusknoir would solo due to being more haxed

Huh, neat i guess. Anyway, i will try to prove my point here

Venusaur easily have the Attack and speed advantage, he also have the defenses advantage, but they are only slight better than Lapras' defenses. Lapras advantage here is the HP, but as said before, it is not enough to survive two hits of Petal Dance. Both have ways to put the other to sleep, but Venusaur's way is better, because sleep power have more accuracy than sing, and since he is faster by a significant amount, he can put Lapras to sleep before safeguard is activated. But, let's say that Lapras do put safeguard before or after Sleep Powder misses. Then Venusaur can stall Lapras, with access to Amnesia, after only one Amnesia boost, Venusaur can survive up to 4 ice beams, and after 3 Amnesias (The maximum), venusar can live up to 6-7 ice beams, and heal with Synthesis, then use Leech Sedd to slowly Kill Lapras, and also gives HP to Venusaur, in fact, the big HP of Lapras can be an disadvantage here, since e have more hp than venusaur, than Venusaur will receive more HP. Venusaur also can use ingrain to heal more.

If Venusaur didn't have access to Amnesia, than i would be more on Lapras side, but since he have that, he can pretty much wall Lapras. The ways i see Lapras taking this is with one of his 3 OHKO Moves, who each have a poor accuracy.

Voting Venusaur for this reasons, feel free to point out some Lapras pros that i don't think about it

A little of topic, but where i can see when new battles of this tournament are maded? In your Message Wall PaChi2?
