I noticed that the shapeshifters category has turned cluttered with characters that do not truly qualify.

In my opinion, the category should only feature characters that can freely change their own forms, for impersonation purposes or othervise (such as Mystique, Mirajane, Ditto, Naruto, and the like), not simply game characters that can slightly modify their form by using external power-ups (such as Mario), ones that mutate over the course of a storyline (such as Acacia), or ones that can only access one single uncontrolled transformation (such as werewolves).

I do not have the time and energy to clean it up myself, but would appreciate help in this regard.

I will help with removing the tag on As many profiles as I can. Should we make a list on which profiles are to be changed or would that be to much work, I don't mind either decision.

Edit: A lot of these profiles are locked, so I won't be able to help as much as I can, but I will try to get the ones I'm able to edit.

Will follow. During the course of my edits I have left all the categories alone due to concerns that they were added for a reason.

However, I do not have enough knowledge about the characters that I edit to truly check if a certain character in a series is able to qualify for that category; in case, shapeshifters.

@Grudgeman1706 Thank you very much for the help.

You can mention all of the locked profiles in this thread, so other staff members can handle them.

@Lina Shields You can read the descriptions of a character's abilities to check if it is truly a shapeshifter or not.

Question(mainly asking ryu or Howard) but would Adam conifers ability to turn himself into a frog man or mouse count as shapeshifting or another fictional inanimate object count as shapeshitfing, or would it fall under his abitly to change the plot or story(via plot manipulation). I'm having trouble deciding?

So if a character has a spell that can change how they look, would they still qualify?

I'll remove some ones that do not fit if I come across any.

@Azathoth Thank you.

@Azzy: Wow, that was some major work that you did removing those categories there. You are certain that they do not belong in the shapeshifters category, correct?

Kudos to you btw.

Thank you very much for the help Azathoth. Assistance from more people would be appreciated, as the category remains very large.

@Lina and Ant

Thanks.

Yeah, as the category is only supposed to include characters who can freely shift into a multitude of forms, as opposed to ones with power ups or single set transformations.

@Azzy

Just one thing about the Mega Man Battle Network characters, all of them can freely shapeshift parts of their body into various weapons with the appropriate Battle Chip, and Mega Man himself has over sixty different forms that he can access at will.

Would that count for a Shapeshifter category?

@Grudge. That's shapeshifting for Adam himself. Falls under transmutation when it's on someone else.

If you guys aren't done yet, I'd be happy to help.

@Azathoth Only ones that can freely morph into a multitude of forms, not single-transformation characters.

@Reppuzan Probably not, if they are just partial transformations.

Maybe we could start a new category called "Transformation Users" or something similar for characters with much more limited transformation abilities?

Orcus has a polymorph ability due to his magic, would this count?

EDIT: Nevermind, read above.

I've checked over the profiles I've made and here's what might need to be changed:

  • Thin Men/Viper - I have already removed Shape-shifting tag as the change takes place in between games and is the result of genetic engineering.
  • Faceless - I left this the same for now, as it should be able to transform into any organic being (In game it only transforms into humans for obvious reasons)
  • K.I.T.T - Can transform into any: vehicle/colour it wishes to using nano-technology. Currently doesn't have the tag on its profile, but I can add it if necessary.
I agree with the "Transformation Users" tag being implemented.

EDIT: Thin Men/Viper was changed, KITT and the Faceless were kept the same as they fit the "freely change their own forms, for impersonation purposes or otherwise" description imho.

Okay, feel free to replace the "Shapeshifters" category with "Transformation Users" when appropriate.

Okay. Thank you for the help.
