Background:

The Paper School courtyard was filled with the late afternoon sun, the students who had just left the classroom had scattered all over the yard. The sounds of laughter, the sound of shoes and the sound of wind blowing through the trees mixed together to create a familiar peace, until a high-pitched, muffled scream rang out in the middle of the yard, followed by a distorted, crackling laugh like an old speaker about to break.

RAM.

His flickering TV screen head lit up, flashing with colored lines. He stood in the middle of the yard, his hand covered with curved black claws grabbing the horn of Akatsuki, the black-haired girl from the Occult Club—pulling her back like he was pulling a puppet.

“Oh my, look at this~” He pulled her closer, his laughter mechanical.

Akatsuki gritted her teeth, trying to pull RAM’s hand away, but her strength was no match for his. “Let me go!”

A few students around glanced at him and then bowed their heads and walked straight ahead, avoiding trouble as usual. But there was one person who didn’t pass by.

Edgar stood a few meters away, clutching the crumpled sketchbook in his hand. His heart was beating faster than usual, his breathing was ragged with fear and anger. He wasn’t the type to be confrontational, but he also wasn’t the type to stand still and watch his friend being dragged around like a toy.

He took a breath, then stepped forward.

“…RAM. Stop it.” His voice trembled slightly, but his eyes didn’t leave him.

RAM turned his head, the screen flashing with distorted icons, as if mocking him.

“HAH? What are you, weakling?” He didn’t let go of Akatsuki, just conveniently pushed Edgar’s chest.

Edgar fell to the ground, the sketchbook spinning on the ground. His breath caught when his back hit the ground.

RAM roared with laughter. “What a useless thing! What kind of guy is so weak?”

The bell rang. He immediately let go of Akatsuki, waving his hand as if shaking off meaningless dust.

“Bye, loser.”

The words lingered in the air as he walked away, dancing smugly through the crowd after school.

Akatsuki rushed over, pulling Edgar up. Beside her were Wilbur and Gregory, all three of them looking worried.

“Are you okay?”

“Does it hurt anywhere?”

“I should have—”

Edgar nodded slightly, brushing the dust off. “I’m fine…”

Hazel came last.

She still had her usual smile, but it didn’t look like the smile of someone who was worried about a friend. It was… empty. Behind it was a feeling like a cold knife touching the back of her neck.

She stopped next to Edgar for just a few seconds, those emotionless eyes looking at him… then slowly glancing at RAM’s figure disappearing outside the school gate.

The afternoon sun was setting over Seaside Village. The pale orange color stretched across the ruined roofs and dilapidated houses. The air was unnaturally quiet.

RAM whistled as he walked along the coastal road, the TV screen flickering to his merry tune. He didn’t usually take detours, but today his eyes were drawn to a strange place, an abandoned village he’d never seen before.

“Tch, that’s creepy,” he said, but he walked in anyway.

Rotting houses, broken windows, fallen signs. The sea breeze wafted through the cracks in the walls, making a whining sound. But what stopped RAM was a strange sound coming from a small alley, the sound of metal scraping against the ground.

He frowned and walked in.

A body lay sprawled, blood soaking the concrete floor. The wound was mangled like it had been ripped open by a chainsaw. A knife was stuck in the body’s back, the handle covered in blood.

RAM shuddered for a second, then laughed. “Whoa, who’s playing hard?”

The sound of metal echoed behind him again.

Clang… pull… clang…

He turned around.

Hazel stood at the end of the alley.

Not the gentle Hazel, smiling brightly every recess. Not the one who always stood next to Edgar as gentle as the sea. Before him was another version: colder, darker.

She wore a pentagonal mask, white and expressionless. The two eyes behind the mask were red as deep as the night pit.

She lifted the chainsaw.
A jerk sounded.
The engine roared, vibrating, dried blood still lingering on the tongue.

RAM chuckled. “Are you kidding? Just a little girl from that crap club? Think I’m scared of you?”

He bent down, pulled the knife from the corpse’s cold back. Blood dripped onto the floor. He twirled it around his finger, looking even more confident.

“Okay. Come here, baby.”

Hazel didn’t answer.

She just tilted her head… as if she were examining a discarded object.
Then she charged, the chainsaw roaring from the deserted village.

Hello everyone, it's me, Bookman :3
~~I know you guys don't know anything about me... But never mind!~~
Sorry for the long introduction :<
A brief overview of this battle, although I'm not good at judging who's stronger because I think this battle is quite even, although RAM has a higher Durability, I still think Hazel's Chainsaw can help her win.
This is my opinion, and I also want to see yours, let's discuss!

Chainsaws are legitimately some of the worst murder weapons imaginable, so I don’t know how far she could get with it before it just jams on one of RAM’s crossbeams or something. Meanwhile, RAM’s knife actually pierced Barrel’s skin somehow (look really closely Barrel has cuts all over him and is legitimately struggling to hold back tears), so I’m pretty sure that a good strike to the head would probably kill Hazel. I’d say RAM wins, but not without some serious damage.

While I know when Hazel uses a chainsaw to fight a mechanical creature like RAM, and she can get "kicked back", the problem here is that RAM's screen isn't really that sturdy, you know a punch from a human hand is enough to destroy a TV screen right? Trust me, when I was 15 I broke a X_X computer, and this is Hazel's familiar terrain, she knows every nook and cranny of this place, then she just flies up and attacks RAM's head from top to bottom with the chainsaw, I bet it will be sawed in half before he can do much.

And RAM is a bully while Hazel seems smarter, and has been implied to have killed people, unlike RAM.

I don’t think she’d go for the head first instead of somewhere lower and relatively more important like his torso considering… y’know, it’s a chainsaw and those things are rather cumbersome. And also, we’ve never seen Hazel fly; for all we know, those wings are just decorative like Gretel’s. Meanwhile, RAM has just a knife and can more easily land and dodge strikes. Also, we don’t know the specifics of Hazel’s kills, all we see is her standing there… menacingly! So I don’t think she has that much of a skill edge here.

Okay, besides the fact that I’m curious why your comments always have the words “I CAN BREAK THROUGH WALLS‼️ BUT I CAN’T FIND MY SOCKS IN THE MORNING⁉️“ at the bottom.
But never mind :V
Back to the main issue, although we know very little about how Hazel kills someone, at least she is still superior to RAM in terms of fighting and intelligence, because after all he is just a bully who doesn’t know his own strength when constantly encountering opponents much stronger than him like Marvin or Barrel, and in the scene where RAM attacks Barrel, we can see that he can’t do much other than... ummm slashing around and swearing (You’re so rude ;-; ). Hazel meanwhile is much smarter, as she's implied to have learned a lot about Shapley, and while it's not shown, she's known to have killed people, unlike RAM, and I think she's more proficient with her weapons, which are pretty useless Lmao-- As for RAM's knife, he only used it once and we don't see him use it again, so I think if Hazel slashed at his torso a few times, she'd realize how useless it is, so maybe she'd change her attack position to something else, like RAM's head?
And RAM has the knife, but I think he'd do the same thing he did to Barrel, without much strategy.

It’s called a signature, you should get one.

I have a hard time believing a physically average person like Hazel would be able to much more with a chainsaw than just slash around. Being able to kill a presumably defenseless person with a chainsaw isn’t exactly the feat you think it is. I would also like to note Hazel’s average pain tolerance in contrast to RAM not feeling pain because he’s a machine. She’s not like Bullseye where she can power through getting her skull smashed in, a good stab is gonna leave her reeling. And you also tend to drop things when you’re in great pain.
As for RAM's knife, he only used it once and we don't see him use it again, so I think if Hazel slashed at his torso a few times, she'd realize how useless it is, so maybe she'd change her attack position to something else, like RAM's head?

Swinging and slashing with a knife is still more efficient that swinging and slashing with a heavy ass chainsaw. And based off what I said earlier, I don’t think she would have time to change up her strategy.

I rest my case.

Leaning towards RAM to be honest.

Even if the chainsaw does land on RAM, we know how saw meets metal in very interesting ways and just by the durability difference. The way she could get it by is by trying to go for RAM's screen which is his weakness and ultimate decider of this fight. But with how little we know of Hâzel (Thanks Eni for your very inspiring storytelling) and how much we know RAM, it's pretty simple to assume that RAM could get some very good hits with a knife than a heavy asf chainsaw and know how to not get his screen blasted or caved in unlike a particular Marvin Sterling.

Ok.... I will vote RAM to.

EndBattle:

Under the gray shadows of the seaside houses, the clanging of metal echoed through the village like a death knell. Hazel’s chainsaw blade sliced through the air, but RAM was no pushover.

Every time she got close, every time the saw hit his metal arm or his internal steel frame, a powerful recoil would ricochet off the blade, sending Hazel’s arm reeling back painfully.

Kick-back.

He realized that after just a few touches.

And he started laughing, the TV screen above his head flashing with arrogant icons.

“Strong. But not enough, kid.”

Hazel lunged again, the saw blade swinging from below, but RAM tilted his head, his entire metal body turning at an angle, his black clawed hand grabbing her wrist.

“Got it.”

She strained to push, trying to pull the saw blade closer to him. But there was a hard knock. Kick Back came again.

This time the saw blade flew straight at Hazel’s head.

It hit the side of her horn.

Crack!

The impact sent her head spinning to the side, dizzying her.

That moment alone was enough for RAM to grip her neck with both hands, lifting Hazel up like a light sack of trash.

“It’s over.”

He slammed her against the stone wall. The impact sent a cloud of brick dust raining down. Hazel grabbed the saw blade with one hand, still trying to fight back, but RAM had already drawn his knife.

And this time, he wasn’t aiming for her.

He stabbed straight into the chainsaw motor.

Crack! Crack!
The sound of metal cracking rang out clearly. The chainsaw motor smoked, stopping instantly.

“No more toys, no more hope.”

RAM took a half step back, the small knife glinting with a cruel light. He raised his foot, ready to close in on her.

But Hazel, though suffocating and being pushed, did not give up. The moment RAM gained momentum, Hazel pulled her leg back, gathered her remaining strength, and then launched a powerful kick into his chest.

A BOOM! sound rang out.

He was thrown nearly two meters away, sliding on the stone floor, the TV screen cracked another line.

“Damn—!”

Without waiting for him to react, Hazel threw the broken chainsaw straight at his face. Even though the motor was dead, it was still a kilogram-heavy piece of iron. It hit RAM’s screen, causing him to stagger.

At the same time, Hazel’s wings opened behind her.

She flew up.

RAM rushed forward, reaching out to grab her one last time.

But she was already out of reach, leaving him roaring in the middle of the deserted village:

“DON’T THINK IT’S OVER!”

Hazel soared high, holding her injured horn, breathing heavily. Her body was covered in brick dust, engine oil, and bruises.

She had lost. But she was alive. The red eyes behind the pentagonal mask had not yet dimmed.

To be continued… Grace is Begin.
