Allow me to explain why they aren't useless. Dipper atleast. Dunno much about how Mabel could fight.

1. The Magnet Gun.

They can rip the fillings out of someone's mouth from 100 feet away. If Dipper got up close to Steven, he could even rip out his gem with this power. It can connect onto things, or release a magnetic field strong enough to take out a UFO.

2. Rumble McSkirmish

Dipper managed to hold his own against Rumble, and survived a very deadly move from him. He outsmarted and nearly defeated him, and uppercutted him doing a very little amount of damage.

Dipper survived a combo like THAT from a Ryu knockoff. That's pretty durable.
