if we take the lasers in FTL and, the novel implies that it is directly shielded and blocked, then can it be counted

It needs to be calculated.

You need to find when the character placed his/her shield up, as well as finding out how far the laser was from that character's location/POV when the shield was placed up.

It could range from Relativistic to FTL, whether those lasers were significantly far away from him, or very close to him.

Seems like you can make a case for lightspeed reactions then, unless proven otherwise that those beams were fired from a significant distance away.
