Ryu Revision

So here Post-SF5 Ryu is considered Power of Nothingness Ryu because now Ryu uses the Power of Nothingness regularly. However, I wouldn't consider him PoN Ryu. Why? Because keyword "regularly". This means he doesn't Transform in order to use this power, and therefore, it is a part of Base Ryu and all his feats still go to Base Ryu. I would personally consider PoN Ryu the same Ryu who one shoted Alpha Bison, Seth and Torrent Necalli, because to perform these feats, he used this power in it's full extent, and by the time of SF5, it has become a state known as 'Hado Kakusei'. So I think Power of Nothingness Ryu = Hado Kakusei Ryu, while all Ryu's feats which he performed without transforming = Base Ryu.

Also didn't Ryu resist Bison's mind control in Alpha 3? And Necalli failed to devour Ryu's soul, Necalli even outright said he can't devour his soul like the others. So the Power of Nothingness gives Ryu resistance to mind manipulation and resistance to soul absorption.

This seems interesting, I'd like more input on the first paragraph.

This I agree with.

I also think that the quoted part seems reasonable.

Was gonna wait to see if there's any familiars of the verse here...oh well.

I definitely remember something about Ryu resisting Bison's mind control thing from a while back. Though i think it was something of him taking a bit of time to do that, but he eventually got out of it iirc. And the soul manipulation part sounds lit enough, though we should at least specify on what he resisted in terms of said ability (Kind of like how it's specified for that on Bayo's page, for instance).

The first part, however, i'd prefer any input of others of that on what to do with Base Ryu and PoN (or it's known as Hado Kakusei Ryu preferably?) Ryu...stats-wise.

I will ask Matthew for input. He knows Street Fighter well.

I know that Ryu masters the Power of Nothingness by Street Fighter V. The question is how to reconcile this with Street Fighter III, which chronologically takes place after V but was released almost two decades earlier.

There will likely be a remake of SFIII later on.

Well it was recently leaked that there will be a free Super SFV expansion and that it will have the second Cinematic Story Expansion. Possibly this story mode will be a remake of SFIII.

Ryu mastered the PoN by the end of SFV so now Bison likely wouldn't even be able to brainwash Ryu. As for resistance to soul absorption, we know Akuma's soul was devoured by Necalli and then Akuma got out of it. The reason Necalli was able to devour him is because Akuma has the Satsui no Hadou, which is also why Necalli was seeking Ryu's soul in the beginning. Then Ryu suppressed it and Necalli said he can't absorb his soul anymore.
