Question about virtual worlds/networks in fiction

Hello everyone! I wanted to know: how do we treat feats made by characters in virtuals worlds? I mean let's suppose a certain character is a normal human but his online avatar has superhuman feats (example: tier 8 - B). If such a character is included in a battle do we consider he is tier 8 - B by default or only if the battle takes place in a virtual envinronment (or in his specific virtual world)?

Stats will be separated by keys (real and virtual world), in a vsthread verses will be equalized by the sake of entertainment, but in a real battle (ala Death Battle for example) it can't be applied, the virtual key(s) can't be used.

Thanks for that answer! I asked that because I currently am watching an anime and most of it happens in a virtual world.
