Porre defeating Guardia

What I wanna know is how porre was able to raise such an army that was able to take on Guardia and even defeat them when the kingdom actually won war against the Mystics and stood strong for 1000 years and also since guardia had crono, marle and lucca who after the end of the game should be able to take on lavos on their own who is capable of planet level + attacks?
