This is World Strongest/Tree of Might Piccolo vs Base Post ROSAT Trunks. Speed is equalized and SSJ is restricted for trunks.
As Trunks waits for the time machine to finish refueling before the cell games, bulma accidentally activates it invertedly, sending trunks back in time where he encounters piccolo and the other z fighters, who does not recognize him, but can sense his strong ki and knows he is not evil. Explaining what has happened, Piccolo decides to test trunks out first
