I decided to go and write up some profiles for a few of the classic DOOM enemies that've been missing from this wiki for too long. These haven't been made yet; I figured I'd run them by the community before I went and created the pages, since they're the first profiles I've put together for VSBW.

Pinky

Spectre

Revenant

Lost Soul

Pain Elemental

Arch-vile

Anyone feel like leaving their opinions on these? I did a lot of digging around in order to find all of the info used to make them, and their respective stats are based as much on the verse's current scaling as they are on the things I've found. Also, the majority of them have multiple keys, since the monsters have different incarnations across the series that're capable of different stuff.

P.S.: The Lost Soul profile in particular is important, since Doom Slayer surviving their exploding attacks means he should have some level of resistance to their hax. I might go and post a CRT based on that little finding later on if necessary.

I do not have the time to check through them. Sorry,

Most of the stats are based on 1, II and Final DOOM, so I suppose that's just as well. Aside from being really familiar with the old games, the Doom Wiki is really in-depth as far as the originals go, so that helped me come up with the monsters' stats. (Though some of them have actual cutscene-based feats in DOOM 3, so those were just as important)

The demons have a clear hierarchy going on in all of the games too, so that's helped make it easier to tier them.

Okay. I checked through the blog pages, and the problem seems to be that both they and already created profiles are largely built in guesswork.

For example, a "+" should only be used if there is a calculation that places a character in the upper half of a tier, and Wall level has a difference of 4194 times in terms of required energy between the lower and upper borders, so being considerably stronger than a Wall level character does not automatically mean a Room level rating.

They seem perfect, maybe the powerscaling needs better imput but the real problem are the Image description and the Tabbers, for the description is preferable to use something that comes from the games instead than joke like sentences and for the tabbers: DOOM DOOM 2 DOOM 3 DOOM 64 DOOM (2016)*

These are more understandable than having the original Doom date and then the new one date, also renders are very important and please once the profiles are created delete the blogs, they would only ocupy more space in the Tier 9 section.

  • DOOM 2016 dosent have a real name neither DOOM 4 or DOOM Reboot would fit in the profiles since they sound very un-professional.

The jokes are only there for my own enjoyment. I wasn't planning on keeping them in my the final versions of the profiles.

I also don't have access to any worthwhile editing software, so if you want renders, someone else will have to make them. We also have plenty of profiles on the wiki that don't use renders, so I don't see why the extra work would be necessary.

EDIT: I also figured it would be a given that I was going to delete the blogs once the profiles were made.

I must've missed this my first time checking this thread. Sorry about that.

I removed the '+' ratings from the profiles (sans the Subsonic+ speed rating, as that comes from scaling to Doomguy's speed calc), and also removed all of the info that could have been seen as speculative or unnecessary. The rest of it is based on feats and scaling to other current profiles, so I've left it as it is.

I also renamed the tabs/keys, since I suppose KarmodF has a point about them being based around unofficial names and whatnot.

I also went ahead and removed the unwarranted '+' ratings from the existing profiles. Unless I missed any, they should all be fixed now.

In any case, I'm probably not going to do it until later, but do I have permission to go ahead and create the profiles?

Arch-Vile still has a + sign on his striking strength, but they look good other than that. On topic, I also got a blog for the Doom 3 version of Doomguy. There are a few things that need to be fixed; I know he's significantly weaker than the primary, mainstream counterpart, especially compared to Doomslayer. And I'm sure that any weapons and/or abilities this version doesn't have won't be in his profile. We should also remove any Doom 3 exclusive content from the other Doomguy's profile once this profile is finished.

Probably not. That would make them stronger/more durable than the Barons themselves, which no incarnation of Pinky or Spectre has ever been, even in the reboot.

Pain Elementals, Revenants and Arch-viles are also explicitly below Barons in every game they ever appear in, so they shouldn't scale either.

The profiles have been made. I also ran into a cutscene-based feat for the Revenant which should warrant Wall level to Small Building level AP for its missiles, so I've added that to its profile.

Anywho...how do you delete blogs again? There doesn't seem to be a button for that anywhere.

Well, content moderators and above.

Anyway, I think that you forgot to add the standard "Characters" category to at least some of the pages.

Oh man, I think you're right. I can go do that now.

EDIT: Nevermind. Seems someone beat me to that.

I only added the category to one of the pages. You should preferably verify all of them.

Already have. Someone's apparently added the Characters category to the ones I forgot.

Okay. No problem then.

So, is there anything left to discuss here, or should I close this thread?

You can close it if you'd like. I don't see anything else to go over.
