Myth: Odysseus' Strength

From the Odyssey:

"So they chattered, but once wily Odysseus had flexed the great bow and checked it all over, he strung it easily, as a man skilled in song and the lyre stretches a new string onto its leather tuning strap, fixing the twisted sheep-gut at either end. Then grasping the bow in his right hand, he plucked the string that sang sweetly to his touch with the sound of a swallow's note."

The calc had a result of 531 KiloNewtons, or 119,374 lbs of force.

What tier is this?

Assuming that his calc is correct (i'm not sure about the physics involved) and using a few things i know about oscillations (harmonic oscillations to be precise) i get this:

F = -D*x

Work = 1/2*D*x^2

Work = 1/2*F*x = 0.5*531000*0.5

Work = 132750 Joules (0.03 kg TNT) Wall level

@Kka Thanks very much for your assistance. So if this is to be correct Odysseus would be 9-C, 9-B with the bow?

As i said i'm unsure about the physics involved so if another member agrees the i guess 9-C, probably 9-B with bow would be fine.

I think that Kkapoios seems to make sense.

The calc seems to be correct for the most part. So, Odysseus' tiering would be

Tier: 9-C, 9-B with Bow

Attack Potency: Street level, Wall level with Bow

The same would go for his durability as well.

However, you would have to also find out how much lb of force the average human can pull, and compare that to Odysseus. Considering that Odysseus was physically able to pull sufficiently strength would mean he could very well be superhuman physically.

His tiering should be left as 9-B

@Lina thanks for the input. I'm not sure what an average human can pull, but Odysseus can clearly pull far more. Peak Humans and multiple very athletic men couldn't even budge thing. His son was the only on able to make it move and Odyseeus can casually pull it and use it for intense combat.

So would 9-B be good then?

Lastly sorry to bother but some of the comments on that Reddit thread stated that a bow would have been travelling a 8000mph coming from that bow. Is this accurate?

First of all, are we adding real-life physics into this? I thought we weren't allowed to get speed from KE [unless that was for SoL feats]?

Assuming 530 kN, or about 132750 joules,

KE = 0.5[m][v squared]

mass of arrow tip = 100 grams, or 0.1kg

[v squared] = 132750/[0.5][0.1kg]

v = 1629.4m/s, or about Mach 4.79. Varies on the type of arrow and its weight though.

I'm not sure, sorry. It was just one Reddit comment here I wanted to ask if it was accurate. I did hear we don't derive speed from KE however. Thanks again for the help though.

The Reddit comment is wrong, in order to find the energy it uses the formula E= F*x which is wrong since the force isn't constant, thus the wrong result.

I suppose that this can probably be used then.

So, Odyseeus' tiering stands at 9-B as of now, correct?

Also, does anyone need to find the speed of the arrow, as it could prove helpful in determining Odysseus' speed?

Well Odysseus doesn't do anything like dodge or react to his own arrows to my knowledge. So his own speed and reactions wouldn't change based on the speed of his arrows, just his potential attack speed when using it.
