The end poem calls the minecraft world infinite, which is one of the few sources of lore for the game.

I guess it depends on which source your looking at which is not good as far as I can tell you should have a concrete source for a characters stats.

Wait so the whole arguement for it not being infinite is because of a game mechanic that keeps the player from travelling further?

The end poem says the world if infinite which is game lore. Also in the minecraft bedrock edition, when creating a world you get the three options of infinite (normal), flat (flat world) or old (small one with a wall you can't see past). Although, I don't know how the wiki views the different editions of minecraft.
