Is D20 Modern valid source for DnD-specific content?

This is specifically asking members that are at least somewhat knowledgeable about D&D and the relation it shares with the modern counterpart: Does someone reliably know if D20 Modern is considered to be a viable source for supplementing Third Edition DnD content, or are they too different as to be taken into account? Especially in regard to some cosmological underpinnings, that might relate to some generic spatial and temporal mechanics like continuous parallel world creation and some generic timeline mechanic assumptions (that obviously don't take into account varied magic/psionics/special abilities and/or divine interference).
