Folklore profiles?

I recall us having profiles for beings/cryptids from various mythologies and folklores. What happened to those? Is there a new rule against it? Nothing I saw in the rules seems to rule out mythology or folklore.

I ask because I am planning on making a verse for Fearsome Critters, which are mythical beings told in folktales by lumberjacks in North America.

I never heard of a rule against tall tales and classic fairy tales; I have heard of a rule against making profiles for the gods of various ancient religions.

We have the rule written somewhere, but basically now everything must be reconducted to a specific media (book, movie etc.) because folklore, tales and myths don't have a unified canon, and heavily vary depending on time and place, making it impossible to narrow down a consistent and definite version.

For this reason now such profiles must come from a definite source and be limited to it, just like we do with all other fictional characters.
