By embodying that character, do you mean something like absorbing it? If so, it's Absorption

The character's friend is haunted by the abstract entity I mentioned and tries to kill him. The character's Friend cannot attack the abstract entity. Therefore, the Character embodies the abstract entity by casting a spell and his friend kills that entity.

Seems like Purification- But if that abstractness is conceptual, this can even be CM with context.

Well, I, I think it's out of phase with this dimension. Like, its consciousness is here, but, but its body is caught in the ether between existing and not existing.

It doesn't have a body, so it's borrowing ours.
