Does string theory (bosonic string theory or superstring theory) upgrade the dimensionality of a verse? If not, why?

As far as I know it depends on how much is said, if they only say "There are x theories" but don't go into detail, then it's nothing.

If it is just merely mentioned or only a simple statement that it exists, then no. The reason why is because that Bosonic String Theory and its other variants posit the idea that these higher dimensions are compactified, curled up in on themselves. Obviously, it isn't the type of higher dimensional standard the wiki accepts.

What is the biggest and most important difference between the type of higher dimensions the wiki accepts and the higher dimensions of string theory?

As these higher dimensions in string theory are compactified, they do not follow with the possibility of a universe being embedded into a higher dimensional structure, thus, a higher tier. Since, they are compactified and would not be able to fit the entire universe inside of them. However, a verse can get higher through String Theory by following brane cosmology, where the universe is restricted onto a brane in a higher-dimensional space. A quick note to add is that by just having branes in a story does not make it a higher tier, as branes themselves are not, well, the higher dimension. Just something that universe is restricted onto.
