Deku should get Soul Manipulation resistance. As seen here: , the individuality and consciousness of a quirk user remains in a quirk, and can actively fight back against being taken or forced out (All for One, Star and Stripe). Hell, the consciousnesses can merge together to create separate sentient creatures in specific cases, such as with All for One and Shigaraki. They can also straight up possess targets, like how All for One controlled Shigaraki during the war and during the Tartarus invasion. And in the vestiges case, they even have memories of their actual lives as humans. Also with this change I guess AFO would also get Soul Manip and Soul Manip Resistance (Since the quirk consciousnesses in his body fought against Star's soul vestige)

The mind and the soul are not one and the same.
Izuku already has Resistance to Mind Manipulation for this feat.

I was planning to make a CRT on this anyways; the vestige world is essentially a world of spirits

I know that, but I'm arguing for them being souls. They're more than just brains. They have feelings, memories, and can even fuse together to create new, sentient beings. They lean closer to souls than just minds.

All of this ties back to the mind. Emotions? Mind. Memories. Mind. One's consciousness is their self.
“個性因子”に人の意識が刻まれているという話一
我々はずっと...歴代の意識がOFAに宿ったものだと考えていたが (Chapter 304, raw)
"He spoke of how a person's essence is hardwired into their Quirk Factor."
"All this time, we believed... that the raw spirits of us predecessors resided within One For All." (Chapter 304, Viz translation)
The kanji used in both quotes, 意識, translates to "consciousness", specifically in reference to the mind and cognition.
This definition is referenced several times throughout the chapter.
