As appointed by the title, this thread is about Zeus's and Ares tier the DCEU. This question is regulary "asked" since the relase of JL due to Zeus's feat with the Mother Boxes. It was already discussed in other threads but the question is still unsolved. So i have my own proposition to make about it.
Mother Boxes are noted to be "At least High 6-A, possibly higher" due to being able to terraform planets when three of them are combined in what we call Unity. In the movie, a flashback sequence shows Steppenwolf's first attempt to terraform the Earth. He is stopped by Earths's protectors, including the Olympian Gods Zeus, Ares and Artemis. During this scene, the Unity is starting to terraform the planet until Zeus separate the Boxes with one single lightning bolt.
This feat is considered to be an outlier and not a demonstration of Zeus's regular power. The reason why is about the DCEU's general tier. In Wonder Woman, it is stated that Ares killed all the Gods, including Zeus, during the War of Gods. He mortally wounded Zeus but was also heavily harmed and felt from Olympus, unable to fight for centuries. So to me and others, he should be noted as High 6-A. Noting Zeus as High 6-A would mean noting Ares to be High 6-A to since he killed Zeus. The major problem is that Ares is later killed by Wonder Woman, who is "At least 7-A to 6-C, likely 6-B" and Wonder Woman is weaker than resurrected Superman (so she cannot be High 6-A) but is comparable to Stepenwolf (who is weaker than Supes) and Aquaman, who is comparable to Orm and Mera, etc. So basically, the major problem with putting them to High 6-A is that the rest of the DCEU would be impacted.
Now here is my proposal :
- First of all, Zeus. The main subject here is the comparaison between the first Unity and the second. As i said, when the Boxes are separated the first time, we clearly see that Zeus did it without making real effort (he channeled lightning for some seconds at best) and with only one lightning bolt. This indicates (to me) that he can do that kind of stuff casually and that what we saw is not exceptional for him.
Now the second time the Boxes are separated, it's by Superman and Cyborg. First, Superman needed Cyborg's help to do so (wich is an evidence that he is weaker than Zeus) and the two needed to make extreme effort to do so. They managed to do it but they were exhausted and needed to recover (of course, Supes recovered very quickly). Zeus on the other was in the middle of a gigantic battle, separated the Boxes with one lighting bolt without any real effort and wasn't exhausted at all by it. And from what we can see, i don't understand why this is considerd as an outlier and in my opinion, Zeus should be noted High 6-A.
- Now for Ares. It's obvious that he cannot be High 6-A normally. But here's the thing. The Ares we see at the end of WW is not on the same level as the Ares from the War of the Gods. It's stated in the movie that, before Zeus, Ares killed every other Olympian God during the war and as the God of War, he drew more and more power from the death of the other Olympians and from the violence generated by the conflict. By the time he faced Zeus, he was empowered by the death of the Gods and that's why he was able to fight him and mortally wound him (though he was himself wounded in the process). In WW, he is in his normal state and weaker than when he faced Zeus, not being empowered (or at least not as much as he was). And again, it should be noted that to face and kill Zeus, he needed to be empowered from the death of other gods. So clearly, WW Ares is not High 6-A since he was weaker and Diana was able to fight and kill him.
What i propose is : Zeus being High 6-A. Regular Ares stays the same (At least 7-A to 6-C, likely 6-B) but we should add a key and put him to High 6-A as Prime Ares.
I don't know if this will be considered (after all, i'm not an administartor and this is just my opinion) but i helped about this. Now of course, i can only wait to see what other people have to say about this (especially Matthew Schroeder since he is apparently "related" to this verse
