A Minor Adjustment to the Versus Thread Rules

So currently the rule for auto-restricted immortality is as follows:

  • When making a match using a character that has Immortality Types 4 and 8 (Exclusively based on existing so long as a higher-dimensional being/entity exists) where the opponent has no way to bypass this, it is automatically restricted.
Now this has a few...issues. Mainly the stuff for type 8 not being entirely specific. For example, someone with immortality based on a higher realm or dimensional plane instead of a higher being would still have their type 8 immortality. Someone with immortality based on a concept that the opponent has no way of getting around. Basically a lot was missed when this rule was implemented. So i propose we adjust it to something more specific, something like:

  • Exclusively based on existing so long as a higher-dimensional being/entity, a higher/alternate plane of existence, or an idea/concept that the opponent cannot destroy under their own power etc. (Leaving etc. for the moment for this discussion to determine other instances that should be included here.)
Thoughts?

I'm against this. When it's higher dimensional immortality it makes sense, because you would effectively need to beat the higher dimensional character in order to ensure that the 3-D one stays dead, and saying that you need to beat Khorne to grant that Khâr will stay dead for good is the epitome of unfair.

But saying that anyone who fights someone like, say, Madoka Kaname and doesn't have conceptual manipulation (the most straightforward way to bypass her type 9) is simply granted the ability to kill her is nerfing the character for the sake of it.

Fair enough, but what of the reliance on the existence of a higher dimensional or alternate realm?

Reliance on a higher dimensional should be restricted. The higher /parallel realm shouldn't unless it's higher dimensional in nature (using Madoka again as an example, she exists in a higher plane of existence due to being a concept, but she isn't higher dimensional compared to the 4-D multiverse. While something like a Way of the SCP foundation is a higher dimensional thing and should be restricted)

Versus threads are a mostly alien area to me, so I am not much help here. Sorry.

Reliance on a higher dimensional realm would fall under the same category as reliance on a higher dimensional character, as you need to destroy the realm to kill the character, which expecting a 3-D character to destroy a 12-D realm for instance is ridiculous.

When it comes to alternative realms, however as long as it's not higher dimensional, don't really see an issue.
