Hello, I was wondering if you would mind going over a few things about Dragon's Dogma. I think there are some problems/incorrect info for the game's wiki entries. Mostly it's the Dragon, Daimon, the Seneschal, and the Arisen being lower tier than they should be, based on what I know about the...

    Doom Eternal downgrades

Ok, I get it. Doomguy is 2-A and I was wrong. Thanks for humoring my mistaken idea with explanations.

    Doom Eternal downgrades

The quote literally says his power was stolen. Also, you don't need to be a jerk about it. Just explain your points and let people weigh in. For the record I did search the old threads, I just must not have found the parts you're referring to. First, thanks for being polite about it. Second...

    Doom Eternal downgrades

So...Doomguy is rated 2-A at his peak, which is ridiculous. This is based on scaling to Davoth very incorrectly. For some reason, it's assumed that Davoth is at full strength when the Slayer kills him. He is not. Davoth's peak power was stolen by the Father, eventually coming to rest in the...

    Berkely Cardinal

I'm guessing you're referring to set theory, with sets containing countable infinite and uncountable infinite sets mean there are "more," or rather bigger, infinities? Lovecraft's fiction is kind of all about the unquantifiable vastness of creation, and he clearly meant for it to be big as...

Multi limb battle (Crimson Typhoon vs Hydra)

I think for the conversation to be productive we need more people. Imaginym and I have put in some good work, but we're to the point that fresh perspective is needed for things to move forward.
  10. LordNidhoggr

Multi limb battle (Crimson Typhoon vs Hydra)

Probably correct. I don't know the process they used to arrive at those stats. Either way it weighs so little compared to even one of CT's limbs that any blow or throw would almost certainly count as BFR, unless the battlefield covers a truly massive area.
  11. LordNidhoggr

Multi limb battle (Crimson Typhoon vs Hydra)

The page on the wiki says 11 to 16 tons. That's where I got the 20-ish ton range for it.
  12. LordNidhoggr

Multi limb battle (Crimson Typhoon vs Hydra)

Yeah, so the Hydra could probably block most if not all of the plasma fire with its ice breath. But it doesn't change the strength, reach, and range advantages Crimson Typhoon has. I just don't think the Hydra can cause crippling damage to CT before being punted into the literal stratosphere...

Multi limb battle (Crimson Typhoon vs Hydra)

Small City Level and Small City Level+, wherever I said small town level I meant small city, likewise with the + at the end. Sure seems like 3. Hasn't been stated otherwise by anyone other than you, as far as I can tell. Logic>signature move. The Hydra, at its biggest, is barely more than...
  15. LordNidhoggr

Multi limb battle (Crimson Typhoon vs Hydra)

Ah...this was me getting the terms mixed up. I frequently mistake things like city and town level. I meant small city level and level+, not town. Totally my mistake. So, what exactly does that mean for a hydra with 3 heads? I'm not sure three heads would be enough to do anything like stop a...
  16. LordNidhoggr

Multi limb battle (Crimson Typhoon vs Hydra)

It seems to me that using the max stats for this Hydra doesn't feel right, considering that it has a range of power and this isn't the biggest, 32 ft version of the Hydra. So it probably scales to Small Town Level or lower, not SMTL+. Similarly, you keep bringing up the necks being long, but...
  17. LordNidhoggr

Multi limb battle (Crimson Typhoon vs Hydra)

Yes, the hydra is very strong, but it's limited by range. Neither its heads nor breath weapon appear to have a range exceeding the length of the Hydra. The heads are small, very small compared to CT, and they'd be biting at fast moving limbs. Yes, like a mouse, they might be a little hard to...
  18. LordNidhoggr

Multi limb battle (Crimson Typhoon vs Hydra)

I'm not sure you realize how much bigger CT is. It's 12 times as tall as the Hydra is long and weighs more than 100 times as much. This is like a 6ft man fighting a 6in rodent. Granted a rodent with comparable strength, but the physics are not in the Hydra's favor. Any attack CT will fling the...

Attempting to debunk Super Mario 64 power star (yet again!)

Yes, that's Occam's Razor...if you assume that the paintings were already there with worlds in them. Which, to me, is the bigger logical gap. As for Bowser creating beings that would help Mario...I see that as the same logic for having power-up blocks in his castles in older games: it's...
  20. LordNidhoggr

Multi limb battle (Crimson Typhoon vs Hydra)

Source: Official Book and the wiki for double-checking. Speed equalizing seems to hurt the Hydra here, as it's listed at Hypersonic while CT is only Subsonic, so not sure how that would work. The plasma does have a charge time, but it's a few seconds and could still fry heads/stumps if not the...
  21. LordNidhoggr

Multi limb battle (Crimson Typhoon vs Hydra)

Would the hydra be able to duck or dodge super effectively given how big CT's area of attack is? Thundercloud is not sticking an arm out with a spinning blade at the end, it's a frenzied, spinning, slashing combo. But I really don't see the Hydra beating the BFR potential. Freezing or attaching...

Multi limb battle (Crimson Typhoon vs Hydra)

Hey, so just wanted to chime in. Officially, CrimsonTypgon is 250 feet/76.2 meters tall and weighs 1722 tons. It has the Thundercloud Formation and a plasma gun directly comparable to Gipsy Danger's, meaning it should scale to Small City Level or higher (Gipsy Danger's killed Leatherback, who...

Attempting to debunk Super Mario 64 power star (yet again!)

But you still haven't given any convincing reasons why Peach would have giant living paintings, not to mention "secret worlds" in some of the walls and windows. Histories can be made, and I just have a hard time believing Peach wanted a fiery hellscape world in her house. What about the ghost...

    Bill Cipher vs Yhwach

Yeah, got to say this is a stomp. There might need to be a discussion on Bill's nature, specifically soul vs astral existence stuff, but that's not for this thread.
  25. LordNidhoggr

    Bill Cipher vs Yhwach

Does Bill even have a soul? I mean, he has an astral form that can be sealed, but Bill certainly doesn't behave like anything else in Gravity Falls. Though maybe he's pure soul, given his ability to possess people by removing theirs. No idea how to vote on this one; it seems like one of them...
  26. LordNidhoggr

Attempting to debunk Super Mario 64 power star (yet again!)

That's the thing though, comparing the exact words with a more contextualized translation is problematic to me. You're comparing a version trying to get an idea across with a version that is taken completely literally. This is arguably the worst-case scenario for trying to do that, too, as the...

Captain America vs Master Crane (GRACE)

Then I have to go with Cap here. He likely scales to be stronger, is a very skilled combatant even if the argument could be made that Crane has more combat skill, and the shield just kind of breaks this match for me. Crane hasn't displayed any of the powerful redirecting arts the Po employs, to...
  28. LordNidhoggr

Captain America vs Master Crane (GRACE)

Does Cap have his shield? I think that would make it a pretty easy Cap win if he does. Simply being able to block any of Crane's attacks (he's a bird, not huge) and being able to attack reliably at range are huge advantages. Without it, I'm still leaning Cap, but will hold off for now.

Attempting to debunk Super Mario 64 power star (yet again!)

I know I'm not an expert, but I thought I'd weigh in on a couple of things that stood out to me. First, whether Bowser created or just manipulated the painting worlds. Honestly...to me, it makes more sense if he created them. My reasoning is that if he didn't, that means there were living...

    Berkely Cardinal

I meant Tegmark 4, not tier 4. My mistake. Hmm. I guess I have a problem with something like that. But, I can accept it. Still, even by those standards, I would think that the Cthulhu Mythos would be Tier 1 at its lowest level, right? A cosmology of infinite universes with infinite spatial...
  32. LordNidhoggr

    Berkely Cardinal

Really? Why is that? How do you reach Tier 4 without an explicit statement that it's a Tegmark 4 in the material itself? There has to be a way; there's far too much fiction that has no idea what a Tegmark 4 is but still reaches to ridiculous heights the tier system. By my reading of the Tegmark...
  33. LordNidhoggr

    Berkely Cardinal

Well, I never thought Lovecraft specifically said anything about Tegmark-style multiverses. But even if the baseline multiverse is only a type 3, wouldn't the cosmology reach Tegmark 4 levels by the Ultimate Void? I mean, there are the Dreamlands that transcend dimensioned space, the Outer...
  34. LordNidhoggr

    Berkely Cardinal

Question: Would the dimensioned space of the Cthulhu Mythos count as a Tegmark 4 multiverse? I mean, it's infinite universes with infinite dimensions, all of which are mathematically understandable. If not, where would it fall on the Tegmark scale, if at all?
  35. LordNidhoggr

    Berkely Cardinal

Maybe not, but a subset of humor is dedicated to absurdist use of language. And hell, philosophy argues over contradictions in thought all the time, see the debates on omnipotence vs almighty (seriously, omnipotent can mean so many things because language doesn't operate on the purely literal)...
  36. LordNidhoggr

    Berkely Cardinal

So, here's the problem with that. Writing 1=0 means nothing to math, for it to work you'd have to be able to prove said statement, or make at least make it consistent across all of math. Essentially, by writing 1=0 you change the entire structure and rules for mathematics or, if you don't, you...

    Berkely Cardinal

    If you say so 🤷‍♂️
  38. LordNidhoggr

    Berkely Cardinal

I'd say the Cthulhu Mythos would also be comparable, with its infinite multiverse as the most basic layer of a series of planes of existence that become infinitely abstract at the highest levels. Granted, Lovecraft didn't use any language about the relationship of cardinals to his universe, but...
