She can affect multiple people at once, but it's not really a spell that has an AoE splash zone or anything like that, She can target multiple individuals. Also, her mind manip seems to vary in casting strain depending upon the target's mental defenses/power of their od. For example, she generally finds snapping Guts out of his berserker state pretty strenuous

Regarding your example, is it tied to AP or does Guts just have layered resistances?

Layered resistances, plus a bit of AP kinda, since Guts has an intense Od especially in his berserker state. The Od, or Odic force is essentially a fundamental force that was hypothesized in the 19th century as an add-on to the electromagnetic spectrum that was unique and endemic to life, and was suggested by proponents to be what was tampered with to cause the effects of nervous system-altering phenomena such as hypnosis and drug-induced altered states of consciousness. TL;DR: Od is life-force so more powerful people in the setting have more of it.
