Well, I'll tell you my interpretation of it.

The strongest in Castlevania would be God, for obvious reasons.

Now about Soma's battle against Chaos.

He has his own power beyond the power of Chaos, like his equipment. And I see more of Soma's fight against Chaos not a 100% real fight, that fight is Soma trying to sever the connection he has with Chaos, to stop being the Dark Lord.

Because even though Soma won the fight, Chaos continued to exist and was not killed.

Obviously this is my personal interpretation and I don't know how this wiki regards it.
