Funnily I left that comment before I noticed the specific example feat being brought up which is the MHA cloud split that we're currently debating.

I think there's a subconscious tendency among most of VSBW to always prioritize the highest; whether that be in specific values, powerscaling, tiering, etc. So quite often I find myself in the position of being Devil's Advocate where I approach the situation neutrally (because I don't care how highly or impressively characters are rated) and I question if the popular approach that is being taken is truly the best.

I wouldn't be making my argument for the Star and Stripe feat if there was say, just 1 panel contradicting it, and I'm well aware that art consistency can be questionable... but it seems to me that nobody wants to apply this concept of art inconsistency as being a problem when it comes to the panels that make the feats look gigantically powerful.

Although I don't think it's the best approach and there are probably a lot of people out there who care more about reaching the truth of the feat than a big result, as long as you have no malicious intent, I guess it's okay.

You can rest assured I don't care about high or low results, I only care about the character reaching their true ratings.

Though honestly Large Island level is an ugly tier, I wouldn't have minded if My Hero stayed at Mountain level, but our cloud calcs will be inflated forever.

I haven't given up on arguing about the Star and Stripe calc yet, and I've got a thought on one of the other High 6-C calcs.

Will make time to get my response post up soon.

Hey Therefir, no hard feelings about earlier on the thread. I didn't want to cause offense by calling you close-minded, I was just a little frustrated.

Getting late now so I'll have my next post up tomorow.

It's okay, the way I worded was strange.

I will also taking a break for today, kinda feel light-headed and dizzy.

Thanks for linking it to me, I was planning to make a thread on that. I'll send you a message with my thoughts later tonight or tomorrow as I'm going into the cinema now.

So, at the moment I'm a bit wary regarding using the 3.7 km figure for the Ocean's depth. I think that if there's a way for us to get a better figure by using scaling from the manga itself then it would be worth including that as another end at least.

Incidentally I'm really curious to see how the anime will adapt these chapters but I'm guessing we're going to have to wait till Season 7 for that.

I don't really see the issue with that depth, as even the Japanese sea can reach a maximum depth of 4,568 meters, as there's a oceanic trench before the actual Pacific Ocean sets in.

The Japanese ocean gets really deep even just a few dozen kilometers away from the coast, with its deepest point being the Japanese trench which is actually deeper than the average ocean depth, and that's noted to be a particularity in real life.

What I'm trying to say is: What's the point of going against real-life geography when My Hero Academia is clearly set on our Earth, in Japan.

Also, on the panel itself it appears that the ocean floor is flat, with no slopes or deformations, so this is most likely taking place on the Pacific plate and not in the Japanese sea, which is full of deformations and is not uniform as it gets deeper into the trench.
