I wouldn't probably use sand density, but the density of dust instead (0.49 grams per cubic centimeter), or maybe the density of air.

As for the explosion, you should probably specify what bars/psi you are using for the explosion formula, though it seems you are using 0.05 psi, which is a pretty good low-end I guess.
