I haven't actually played TSA, only watched a playthrough... but I plan to change that soon, since I think it's amazingly written. If you're interested I can go more into it but it's an incredibly rewarding game for someone who's a fan not just of NMH, but Suda51's work in general. There's a lot of references, returning characters from other games, and it's honestly more of a game about Suda51 himself than one about No More Heroes' world.

Also yea sure

Oh no I agree I beat the game last week and it took me while to think. I thought the game was amazing especially with the way Travis grew as a person from the first two games to TSA and the highlight for me we’re the bosses(Brian Buster Jr being a personal favorite)

Also go for it my g I be here and discuss if you want

Hell yeah

I think it's really cool to get to see how Travis thinks now that he's an adult and not an overgrown kid, of course he's still an unrepentful urderer but there definitely is that somberness that comes with age to his actions now and he's just very different, you can even infer that from his actions, NMH1 Travis would have just cut Badman the **** up and gone back to playing videogames, but this one goes along with him and helps him revive Bad Girl even though he just loses from that.

But more than that I think it's really interesting to see Suda51 kinda tell his own story with the Death Balls, of course this is just speculation but I do think they kinda reflect points of his life.

Electric Thunder Tiger is like those arcade games he seemingly loved to play as a child (spoke about it in an interview i think) and Travis' reaction to fighting his own idol probably mirrors what his own would be: "Games are meant to be played, not lived." and the general way Travis distances himself from Electro Triple Star symbolizes growth I think, no matter how much you love a certain game there's a point where you'll have to put it to the side, and move on.

Life is Destroy mirrors, again, in my interpretation, Suda51's early years of adulthood, where he was looking for any kind of job, he even had a stint as an undertaker which left quite a mark on him, that's why Killer7, the Silver Case, Flower Sun and Rain and Kurayami Dance (all games he's made, except for Kurayami which is a manga) all have a heavy theme of death, and how people relate to it. I think that's why the urban setting is the way it is, and the skulls that chase you and kill you, they're the general anxiety of life in that state, unsure if you'll finally get a job that you can live with.

Coffee & Doughnuts I believe represents Kill the Past, the central idea that surrounds the Silver Case trilogy, Killer7, and No More Heroes to a degree, which is to leave your past behind, and find peace in the present- if you can't manage that, your past will slow you down and eventually swallow you and bring you to a state of inertia. Brian Buster is someone who failed to Kill the Past- he lets his past overpower him and wishes to die, yet can't- In Kill the Past, any sort of movement is better than none, even if you become a worse person, that's better than just sitting there, letting your sins consume you for it. Travis finally manages to bring some sort of peace to Brian, and helps him kill his own past.

Golden Dragon... I'm not sure, actually, still figuring that one out. But Suda51 really likes racing games! It was actually gonna be way longer, he just decided against it for the sake of pacing.

Killer Marathon- the beta one, I mean- is kind of a way for him to briefly vent about his failed ideas, those that couldn't go anywhere, but also those that just never took off. Even in Japan, the Silver Case is obscure as hell, and I bet he'd have loved to see more success for other games he worked on.

DAMNED Dark Knight is the best one imo. Shadows of the Damned is obviously a real game, and this is a sequel to it. Now, Damned's history is very long and complicated, but the summary is Suda51 had plans for it to be an odd, social sim survival horror game called Kurayami (this is what Kurayami Dance comes from btw), but EA, whom he was making the game for, kinda shot him down, and forced him to turn it into a shooter. Meanwhile, in TSA, Juvenile wished to make a game so ambitious that the technology for it didn't exist, so she decided not to... but was forced to by her superiors. Sound familiar? Johnson being the "protagonist" of DAMNED Dark Knight is also symbolic. He did not exist in his vision of Kurayami, he was forced to add him, but considering he gets top billing this time, odds are Suda likes the guy. So, I'm not quite sure what this means, but I think it's Suda51 accepting the fact that Kurayami as he intended will never be a game, but also embracing the final result- it may not be what he wanted, but it's still good! And this extends to his other games. Between NMH1 and TSA, Suda51 did not actually fully direct a single videogame. He supervised a lot and had a hand in some, but they aren't quite the same, and you can tell- outside of Killer Is Dead, where was still forced to change the story from his original vision, none of them fall within "Kill the Past"... but I don't think he dislikes them. With all the cameos they have in Travis Strikes Back, and with how Suda51's stated he really likes Juliet Starling's character, I think he's embracing those games, although he's also stepped away from his leading position at Grasshopper Manufacture to focus on developing games first-hand, so I think he preferred developing them first-hand.

Of course this all comes from a huge Suda51 fanboy, but odds are he's even more of a fan of himself, so I feel it might be accurate lol.

That said it has a YIIK shirt so that means it makes it canon that Travis played that game and liked it, so it's kind of a shit game

But for real I happy there someone on this site that is a huge Suda51 as well. All this games as their history are just so Intriguing, I don’t have time atm but I completely agree with the views you had as well, DAMNED dark knight also being a favorite as well.

Man talking about Suda just gets me more hyped for NMH3 not only as a fan of NMH but Grasshopper and Suda in general.

But **** u right Travis likes YIIK Suda51 is a hack, all his games were bad from the start, and grasshopper is a bad studio

I'm glad to see someone else who does too, it's such an interesting creator and studio that it's a real shame they're relatively niche. I'd love to keep talking about this when you have time.

And yeah I'm really looking forward to NMH3, sometimes I'm a bit afraid it won't be very brave since this is their "big" game but with the Silver Case references and the FU trailer I'm really hopeful- FU himself is really cool, I'm looking forward to seeing more of him also he is hot

Also honestly I really feel like NMH1 Travis would play YIIK and go, wow he is just like me, and love it

Btw out of curiosity, have you played the Silver Case games?

Holy shit yeah I bought that game three months ago and had an amazing time with the game, its an great visual novel with amazing writing( Suda51 back at it again with that writing), also favorite characters have to be Kusabi, Tokio and Sumio not in any order but those character are some that I'm really fond of.

hbu?

Also quick question if I remember correctly, do we have a killer 7 profile?
Armorchompy
Armorchompy
Basically the same for me yeah, bought it what, two months ago? Really good although I could have done without some sections. I loved Sumio in particular but Tokio and Kusabi are great too. Have you played/are planning to play Flower, Sun and Rain? It's kind of a sequel.

Yeah, The Smith Syndicate, made it myself around January. I also made one for Kurayami Dance and am working on stuff for the Silver Case.

1. Definitely planning on playing it, so don't spoil anything yet lol

2. Aww hell yeah gonna have some fun making matches, but wait if I remember correctly, wasn't Badman scared shitless when he realized Dan smith was coming after him? Does that in any way mean scaling or I'm I reaching to much?
Armorchompy

1) I would never, but do tell me what you think when you do, it's one of the most interesting imo

2) He was but here's the thing, canon in Suda games is ****** up. Killer7 mentions air travel and the internet being banned, with them being necessary to FSR and TSC respectively, but obviously the guy in Travis Stikes Back, Kamui Uehara, is from TSC. Then Mondo Zappa appears, but he's got both arms yet works for the association that he only worked with when he had the Musselback. A character from FSR appears and he's completely different, and so on, IMO it's all just non-canon cameos with the possible exceptions of the TSC trilogy and Kurayami Dance, but I can't really get into why because of spoilers. I'm waiting on NMH3 before making any claims about canonicity tho, since TSA calls itself a commemorative title or whatever.

It'd totally be enough for a "possibly 8-B" tho, if I was convinced they were the same canon

Yo gotta ask someone my G, does that mean we can’t use the lighting calc previously? If not that sucks but I got another MHS calc that you can also check out lol
