It all depends on what the technique/move does, it may simply be that the technique/move is a hax that ignores durability, or that character B's durability does not scale to his AP, or that character A has simply taken advantage of some weakness of character B (an example would be someone small being able to easily defeat someone much larger, muscular, etc. with just martial techniques and that would not scale martial techniques to AP), he would not necessarily scale AP with the technique unless the technique makes it clearly explicit.

Ok, I’ll just remove the hypotheticals to try and give as much context as possible

In WWE, finishers are signature moves each character has that they use as their “ultimate attack” to win matches. They are inconsistent, mostly due to the multi-decade history of their usage as a trope, passing between what must be hordes of writing teams, but for the most part they beat their opponents, and have also one-shot wrestlers.

James Ellsworth’s finisher, No Chin Music, nearly one-shot AJ Styles, who holds a ~17.3x AP advantage over Ellsworth here on the wiki. In this situation, is it possible to apply a ~17.3x AP multiplier to finishers?

I should note that all AP based finishers are physical strikes and do not posses hax

No IMO, because they are practically K.O. moves.... easily moves that are used to finish off opponents in a quick manner. As I already stated in the example I described above, unless the technique explains it that way then no.

Huh, ok

Out of interest, how would you index them? We dabbled with pressure points for a while for the reasons you listed (they’re “knockout moves”) but because there are a shit ton of finishers that don’t target any actual pressure points, that got canned as an idea. Right now we just list them as “higher” in the AP section, but that feels… unsatisfactory

I wouldn't index it as anything special, it's the same as me punching you in the face and knocking you out. It's just part of my strength and it's not a "Higher degree of AP" or anything, only this time with randoms moves that could be called special moves or techniques.

Yeah but there is very obviously some form of in-verse mechanic that makes finishers stronger than literally any other move. Ellsworth literally hurt his hand punching Braun Strowman - Someone Comparable to AJ in AP and Dura - and yet AJ nearly went down to a single No Chin Music from Ellsworth

This is the same as what I explained about martial arts or special moves.... The same thing happened, for example Ayanokouji vs Albert, Albert was bigger and physical stronger than Ayanokouji and Ayanokouji could not hurt him with single blows (and it was even seen as he shook his hand "in pain" when he hit Albert) but he just stomped him with martial arts and already weakened he could destroy him with punches and kicks. Martial Arts and Special moves/techniques allow you to defeat enemies much stronger than you in one move.

But Ayanokouji has pressure points listed on his profile for beating Albert despite the massive AP disparity…
Dereck03
Dereck03
Yeah, but he also used martial arts, but that's not the case in WWE so....
Pikaman
Pikaman
What do you mean? WWE is a martial-arts centric verse
Dereck03
Dereck03
Their finish moves are martial arts? It would be a bit odd to say that a couple of random/show moves are martial arts.
Pikaman
Pikaman
Yes, in WWE “kayfabe” (canon) their moves, however ridiculous they are, count as martial arts. There are a good few IRL martial arts incorporated on top of that
Pikaman
Pikaman
Oh also thanks for sticking with me here, I’m sure I’m being a bit of a pain atm 😅
Dereck03
Dereck03
Well, if you want count their moves as martial arts then do so, but you can't give them a "higher via martial arts" or smth like that as they don't amp the AP
Pikaman
Pikaman
I would agree with you, but there is an in-universe mechanic that explicitly makes finishers stronger, rather than them just happening to be K.O. moves, if that makes sense. Certain moves are commonplace, but are only finishers when used by certain characters, and are far more destructive when used by those particular characters, despite no noticeable difference in technique or usage of the attack when compared to those that don’t have the attack as their finisher, for example
Dereck03
Dereck03
Well, idk, finish moves are just that, finish moves, all depends of the circumstances... I don't agree with giving them higher rates, but you can always ask another people or make a CRT.
