Metal Sonic uses a similar writing style as a lot of robot characters in Japanese media, his dialogue is in Katakana (The alphabet used to mostly write English-terms for example) and in general machine translators have a hard time noticing that and think it's basic katakana and should be read as is.
So, changing it
カオスエメラルドガ = カオスエメラルドが
ホシケレバ = ほしければ = 欲しければ
カカッテコイ = かかってこい
Basically "If you want the Chaos Emerald, fight me"

I looked into that one years ago as well, and that is right. The Japanese text does mention "Space-time".
