Beautiful series, beautiful artwork.

Re: Zero is probably my favorite story of all time. And Subaru my favorite character.

Holy based.

Re:Zero is tied with Attack on Titan for my favorite Japanese fictional work (anime, manga, and novels mainly), well specifically the AoT anime, because of the ending in the manga. Although I think the ending gets a bit too much hate, it's not AS bad as people say imo, but it could have been a lot better, to me. Hopefully Re:Zero gets a better ending, but we're still far from that.

And yeah Subaru is my favorite fictional character I'd say, at least from a pure writing stand point.

I genuinely have no idea how Re:Zero gets so much hate, especially Subaru himself. It's a masterpiece. I mean, it's not that the series gets more hate than love, but the amount of hate it gets for how good it has gotten is surprising. Admittedly, I think the start of Re:Zero is just decent, so I can understand if people just watch the beginning and leave early expecting it to be mid.

Most likely people who didn't really look past the surface. No hate towards them, but I've genuinely never really seen a good criticism of the series. It's funny, actually. Re: Zero is so good that most criticisms people have can be 'objectively' debunked. Most of the reason people don't like it is just personal bias, or refusal to look any deeper than the surface level of the series.

Especially those who hate on Subaru. Like seriously... What? Maybe if you've only watched the first season I guess. In the web novel, he's genuinely TOO GOOD. Like ****, how does this guy keep managing to exponentially increase his character depth and development EVERY ARC.

After Arc 6, I swear you'd need to be blind to not consider it one of the greatest works of all time. Arc 6 by itself is up there with Berserk's Golden Age in terms of quality.

Personally, I like AoT, but... Arc 6 of RZ alone is better than the entirety of the anime for me.

Yeah, no insult to anyone, but from what I've seen, the series literally seems too complex for some of the viewers to understand, at least with their first time seeing it.

Hell, I'll even admit that I didn't like Re:Zero much when I first watched season 1. I didn't understand it at all in the first watch, and thought it was just kind of edgy without real depth or purpose. Tbf to me, I was being forced to watch it by a friend who liked the series, which may have made me develop a biased disliking of it.

I watched it again a couple years later and utterly adored it. Quickly became my favorite anime after I watched it a few more times. That was all before season 2 came out, which only made me like it even more.

From what I've seen, a lot of the people who hate on Subaru do it because they relate to him and don't like that they relate to him.

Hell, even outside of Subaru, Re:Zero has plenty of great characters. Even a lot of the side characters are quite good, like Crusch and her faction, which is a feat that a lot of series can't pull off well. Tappei's ability to make use of all his characters is amazing. The fact that even characters as minor as Kadomon are memorable, with their own extent of depth, is a feat of its own.

Tbh, it baffles me that people think other isekai are even comparable. Mushoku Tensei is like bargain bin Re:Zero.
