Gar Shatterkeel comes from the very stinky edition of D&D where strategies are not always laid out. Especially not against specific individual abilities. That said, he does have a semblance of a "standard strategy".

I should note his page really should be revised- Gar and his peers are only Low 7-B when in their lairs- in this case, the Temple of the Crushing Wave. His primary abilities to use are Inflict Wounds (Pain Manip, basically causes rapid wounds to manifest across the body- functions on inorganics, too, just manifests damage, basically) and Call Lightning (form lightning cloud, shoot people with lightning, simple enough). When pressed to a corner, he will use his weapon, Drown, to summon Olhydra.

Okay I have a few other questions

1. Are undead affected by necrotic damage? I'm thinking of making Vitreous Drinker fight a zombie but I need to be sure
2. How hot are the flames that D&D characters can resist? And if it varies, how much for the High 8-C, 8-B, 8-A characters?

1. Some undead are, some aren't. Vitreous Drinker isn't, iirc.
2. Good question. The best heat feats (besides standard lava stuff) that come to mind are the fact that fire elementals and the like live on the surface of the sun, and some creatures are that molten chunk of iron at the center of the world (approximately 5,000-5,500 C on average for those). I'd bet there's something better in the Elemental Plane of Fire, given the crazy shit that exists in the Plane of Ice, but uh I don't remember that off the top of my head.
