But I think that Alma Negra's statements were really serious, he was mentioned in the same episode as being lord of the privateers of the 7 seas, this due to having killed all of them, he is feared by all pirates and is in the history books of the verse for having been "the dreaded black soul pirate" because of the things he's done, while it may just seem like a joke or something hyperbolic of the same or something like "kill the sea moto and paint the other one red", he literally never did anything like when they accused him of being suspicious and he said he "didn't even trust his own shadow" and we really see his shadow trying to betray him, even within the verse this kind of thing being real is nothing new, like when they said that Chapolin would be white with fear when facing the ghost of Alma Negra and he really was.
Even in the space pirate episode he stated that he could destroy the Earth and he really did, he although he is a villain is actually a reliable source of information and has evidence of that.
