If you think it's tough to prove lightspeed for verses as is, have fun trying to get people on board with someone like Blackbeard actually controlling the empty vortices within light waves.

Also, did they assign a speed to it, or did they just say it can theoretically be faster?

They said that the Dark Spots can be faster than light under the right conditions via the optical vortices.

makes me think about how in the movie “Never Ending Story 2”, this should give their validation for speed feat “Speed of Darkness Is faster than the Speed of Light”!
