As a Baki fan, I hear you. Admittedly, statements like those can be vague and leave room for a lot of extrapolation/headcanon-ing. Like, are they just that physically powerful? Certain powers/abilities? Is it incredible skill in combat techniques? Intelligence/planning? Just an improbable yet...
I mostly agree, especially about the ending (feels like it might go to AOT levels of bittersweetness). There are more instances in the series of hope and positivity:

Makes sense. I believe they'd have similar physical capabilities but Toji would be too reliant on weapons to win and his CQC really only exist to compliment or back up for for any of his tools. Then there's tacking Miguel's CT into account as well.
When I hear counter-attack, I think of a second strike. Given the context as well, it looks to me like a 2 for the price of one deal; one attack but double the power.
Some characters can go through entire limbs and internal organs like I do w/mentos but would still struggle against poison of any kind. "Huh, I'm starting to think this piece of fiction aimed at mostly teenagers isn't 100% accurate/logical"
