Faster browsing on the forum - What's new

For some reason, I have been getting ghost notifications, meaning notifications from stuff I have already checked out. This can be from a few hours ago to literal months...

(And yes, replies specifically, not likes, so I can see when they were actually posted...)

Before, when I was viewing a thread, clicking on the timestamp of a comment would refresh the page and load any new messages. Now it no longer shows new messages. I have to leave the thread and open it again, or select the new message from my notifications, to see the latest replies. (The same applies to the ‘likes’ I receive on my comments.)

Also, the thread location used to be displayed above the thread title. It no longer appears, but I think the previous design was much more useful.

Not really a fan of the fact that pressing on the "new posts" tab version of them now causes you to go all the way back to the very first post if you back out and then go back in to newest post on a thread unlike in the previous version.

Has anyone mentioned this? When you update a page by clicking on the notification that someone liked your post, the like doesn't appear.

Not gon lie, this cloudflare, a.k.a are you a robot thing clarification everytime I want to refresh the forum kinda annoyed me.
Are you a part of one of the mentioned countries?

China, Hong Kong, Vietnam (It's a Cloudflare issue, not vs battle though)
I have also heard that people from Brazil are experiencing similar issues.

I am from Southeast Asia. Do they count too? I see Vietnam so I guess?

For some reason the "share" button on messages doesn't work
Fixed. Clicking the share link shows the share options now.

Previously, clicking any alert caused a full page reload, which automatically cleared all alerts. Now, clicking an alert only clears that specific alert, so the behavior can sometimes seem confusing.

As for the very old alert, I believe that is specific to your account. I haven't been able to reproduce the issue on my end.

To add more, usually when I click the hastag number of a comment it will refresh the page, like the whole thing, but now it doesn't.

The new technology no longer reloads the entire page. Instead, it only loads the content needed for the current request, which makes the site much faster.

I've also updated how post number links work. Now, when you click a post number, the page scrolls directly to that post while silently fetching the latest reply data in the background. You should notice new replies at the bottom of the page if available.

Also, the thread location used to be displayed above the thread title. It no longer appears, but I think the previous design was much more useful.
Breadcrumb issue fixed. Now it shows the thread location.

For me, I can see the updated reactions when navigating from the alert menu. From other pages, it always loads the latest reactions.

When staying on the same page, it scrolls directly to the post and updates the reactions instantly.

The bot attacks have become increasingly difficult to manage. We had to add additional security measures for several countries that are heavily targeting the site, with the majority of the traffic coming from South Asia and South America.

The managed checks should automatically stop appearing after you successfully pass them a few times. However, if you are using public WiFi or a shared network like a cafe, the challenge may continue because other users on the same network could be abusing it.

At least this way, genuine human visitors should still be able to access the site. :)

For some reason, when you're inside of a thread and try to go to another via some notification, it just refreshes the page, rather than taking you to the place of the notification

To use those links I have to go to the "What's New" section first
I'm having the same issue.

yeah I have this too 😓

We are getting very close to making everything perfect. Sometimes, fixing one issue can introduce another, so it takes some time to fine-tune everything.

Thank you all for your help, patience, and feedback. It has been really helpful in improving the system.

I'm on my celular data right now cause I'm outside, yet it somehow still got me.. :(

just because we don't know if it's needed/nice to create a separate thread for this, imma speak about it in here:

Me and several other brazillians like @Phsccarvalho and @LuffyRuffy46307 were blocked from accessing the forum by Cloudflare for 3+ hours
Y'all can check @Antvasima's message wall for further evidence as well

sidenote: @KaramcaS is probably not brazillian and had the same problem at the same time, so it is not impossible that this is happening to more than one country

I'm not sure how this affected other countries, but today, for around 2 hours, Brazilian users weren't able to access the forum at all, with it saying we were blocked for triggering the security solution. Many were affected, likely all Brazilians and many other places, and it is possible to see the amount of people affected in Ant's message wall. Right now, we are able to access it, but is there a way to ensure we won't face issues like those in the future?

Oh, we were typing our messages at the same time.

Actually, when I tried to access the site to view a DB CRT, I was blocked from the site and it seemed like someone had blocked me, I couldn't log in for hours.

Oh another issue is that i can't seem to send a direct message to anyone
Not sure if its my message count or not......
We used to have a security limit of a minimum of 6 months old accounts with at least 500 posts in order to initiate private conversations, but that was accidentally removed during some old update, so we reinstalled it recently. 🙏

VSBW keeps sending me to the ai/robot check page, this has interfered with a post where everything was removed but luckily i predicted it and already copied everything from my post. Also, i will randomly stop being able to interact with vsbw and need to reload it with an error message but reloading wouldnt work either this time so i had to go to a different page (i typically go to home) and then come back to the thread. This used to happen before too but it has increased dramatically and happens every few minutes now

Just happened again

this is the exact message:
Oops! We ran into some problems. Please try again later. More error details may be in the browser console.
after reloading:

Not sure about others, but so far, the forum has been butter smooth 90% of the time, much faster than before. Amazing update.

That said, occasionally, the website itself seems to block me for a duration due to "too many requests", even though I haven't really checked that much. Though besides that, it has been amazing.

I keep getting logged out with Cloudflare saying "the site is offline," and what is shown is a snapshot version of the site...
Dark_Soul came to me about this issue off-site. It's out of my wheelhouse, but I thought it would be helpful for debugging purposes to share exactly what they saw on their screen, with their permission given.

This happened to me for several days straight, a few days before the update. So they might not be related?
