To be fair, I knew of like none of the anime/animesque verses that are super popular on this site, with the exception of Dragon Ball, Naruto, OPM, and Berserk. Not knowing who this girl is really isn't inconceivable if Japanese media isn't your thing.

If something's not popular in your area or you aren't exposed to it a lot, its pretty easy to conclude that it's not popular as a whole, especially if you aren't seeing it plastered all about the internet.
