So everything aside from his 9-B stuff is restricted, right?

Reflecting pain onto Anna, affecting her with the time loop, possession and Immunity are all things Anna passively resists/denies. (Interference Field and Intuition of Flavor.)

Because Intangibility makes his entire body something supernatural, Anna can counter it with the Iron Body, I believe. I don't know how soul manipulation works, though.

So, I suppose this will become a close quarters combat? In this case, Anna's higher mobility and combat speed amping (Heavy Feather) should give her the win.

shiet I forgot to add them to the OP

Yes

I don't think Anna can resist that degree of pain reflection, which inscribes said pain into her very soul

His soul manip isn't combat applicable afaik

True, but if she uses any weapons then David Traces, copies her physical strength and goes from there

I think she can, as the Interference Field acts on an abstract (logical/conceptual/universal laws) level and resists stuff that's much more powerful than the Outlier (not the idea of an outlier, the outlier human subspecies which Anna is a part of) themselves. It can almost certainly tank something low-end metaphysical like soul-based pain manip. And anyways, she's gone through torture and a lot of fights, so she's not going to easily fall prey of pain manip.

She does use a pair of weapons, the Combo Stars, two supernatural gauntlet-like gloves. However, he'd probably need to be hit by these weapons to copy them, as the Interference Field would also likely block the copy ability otherwise. Once he's being hit by the Combo Stars, he's likely being combo'd by them and that's not tasty.

OK

No. David just goes "Oh i like those", thinks and now has them.

goddamnit that ******* field is the new Willpower Defense or Absolute Barrier isn;t it

Oh, so he can't use it at all unless he touches her hands.

And it's not at all absolute. Rather than powerful, the field is extremely vast on what kinds of things it can protect from, as it's less a protection against a specific kind of power and more of a protection against a specific way to use powers or in which powers can affect someone. Because of the condition that does not speak of what power it's acting against but how the power is acting, it protects against:

>Literally any power if used the wrong way

...you know, I'm not even going to try to list every power that's always negated by it, but we can mention time manipulation and curse manipulation for examples, as these powers will almost invariably work in such a way they are blocked by the field. But really, unless one's every power is the type of hax the field always defends against (i.e they are haxxed but not really versatile when you strip them of their hax), the field might not even give the outlier any meaningful advantage in battle.

Just a heads-up, but this "Literally any power" sort of thing is not allowed.

At absolute most a character/form of defense can resist anything that has been shown in-verse.

no?

I literally just said that he doesn;t need contact

he literally just sees something, thinks "oh i like that" and now he has it

also the WPD and AB stuff were references to Gyrohem and Starcross characters basically resisting everything due to the mechanics of certain powers

I worded it wrongly, sorry. I meant that there's an insane variety of superpowers that can be blocked by it. Trying to control the water of their body from afar? Yeah, resisted.

It's hard to pinpoint a list of powers that the field can defend from because it's more like "how is the power acting upon them" than "what the power is". It's easier to look at the description because it explains the basic outlines as well as the four main ways in which the field's protection can be (and is) bypassed.

They don't, though.

Gyrohem has a "list of stuff it has been shown to resist" and many Starcross characters have nowhere near as much of a good AB as Mastema's. Mastema's AB has that many resistances on such a high level for the obvious reason that she is the Final Boss.

Otherwise we would enter the classic "things Roukanken can't cut are next to none" territory.

What I mean is that a power that is directly used (instantanously/telekinesis-like) on the target without contact will be resisted, but a power that doesn't require contact initially such as telekinesis ca affect the outlier if contact is used. Even if it by itself doesn't always require contact, it will be resisted by the outlier if there is no contact, but that will be bypassed anyways by contact.

Iirc WPD is nowhere near as good as AB even for the god-tiers, but AB is still so loosely defined that it more or less encompasses everything in Starcross to varying degrees

And yeah, i know that Mastema is basically meant to be bullshit compared to everyone else

Ok so, Anna resists all of David's hax as far as i can tell what a shocker

Not much can counter him copying her strength before out-skilling so badly it's not even funnt

I think the IF kinda prevents the strength copy unless bypassed. And can he copy her powers? Because copying stats is a different thing, Anna can be faster than someone as fast as her due to the movement optimization of her fighting style (it minimizes the startups and followthroughs of her every move to the point she could seem significantly faster than she really is), which means it's not negated by speed equalization.

This could counter the skill difference, not to mention Anna can cause a lot of damage and debilitate massively from a single blow while minimizing damage suffered (Piercing Blow and Kinetic Armor which give her durability negation by transfering the impact directly into internal organs and damage reduction by making all damage smaller and more superficial via controlling the movements and kinetic energy dispersals of attacks once any of it (KE from impact or the attack itself) enters her).

Trace copies a lot of things, such as:

1: The weapon and any powers associated with it

2: Any skill the original user had

3: The original user's physical strength

If her speed amp is a skill or something that could feasibly be replicated, David copies it

Whoa, that makes it a really strong skill o-o Indeed, her fighting style is just an application of her power (Ultravelocity. Anna has basically three supernatural thingies on her: Intuition of Flavor, Ultravelocity, Interference Field... and every single crazy shit that comes out of those three in her list of techniques).

However, if she keeps her distance, the IF will likely prevent that due to restricting any powers from acting directly on her on a from-distance activation like that. She can just camp him out that way.

Um, should I paste the IF's description here to make things simpler?

So IF is basically passive powernull that works on things outside of a certain range?

If that's not it, you should probably post it here

Pretty much. A little more complicated than that, but that's the gist of it. Let me paste it so we're all on the same page:

*sigh*, I'd love to be able to reduce the font size for moments like these. The field is several microsoft word pages long and several screens long if I try to capture it by screenshotting.

  • Interference Field: The passive ability that all outliers possess. Because their abilities and aspects are supernatural, they distort the logic of the universe by their very nature. This creates a barely noticeable effect around the outlier and the product of their powers, within a radius typically akin to their own stature, wherein the behavior of things (such as the movement of particles) is subtly distorted on a nanometric scale as a result of the bended laws of reality. Typically irrelevant, this effect combats non-consented anomalies on its presence, being especially stronger when close or inside the outlier's body. While it does barely anything to previously existing things such as fireballs thrown from outside the field, it powerfully resists effects such as the manifestation of fire immediately around an outlier or the manipulation of air inside their lungs — to the point where even those much more powerful than the target would consider forcing themselves beyond the resistance to not be worth the effort and too tiring to maintain —, making it a defense against a few power applications that would make the outliers extremely vulnerable if possible to do, but not inherently a meaningful advantage in combat. Besides, the Interference Field interacts with physical constants and "absolutes" in an odd way, such that one who is, for example, indeed immune to fire despite having a body made of flesh and bones and instead of merely resisting it or being of a composition like "energy" such that the idea of burning it would not make any sense to begin with, then that absolute aspect of their properties is softened into something powerful, but relative to the softened attribute's neighboring qualities and its holder's base attributes. It also makes so that the field considers things that move relative to, equal to or faster than the speed of light to be "direct information transfers" and will resist them if not consented, making it harder for outlier to suffer sunburns because of how they subconsciously resist unnecessary UV rays. This way, the field can be bypassed in four main ways:
  • One, another being with supernatural powers can enter the field's range so that its supernaturality overlaps with their own and they can use their powers there as if it were neutral territory. It extends to the necessity (or "possibility") of touching a part of an outlier's body and becoming capable of using one's powers on the touched region and a bit around it — how much varies depending on intensity and duration of contact, as well as difference in power —, but usage of powers directly inside the body is always weakened and made harder to a degree.
  • Two, if the outlier consents to the usage of a supernatural power, then their field won't resist it. This has the upside of being possible to not resist the direct usage of healing powers from afar, with the downside of consent being nearly impossible to give while one is unconscious. It also means the field's resistance is stronger against an outlier with their guard up.
  • Three, "triggers" can be used. If a power has a condition to be activated such that the outlier needs to directly or indirectly do something in order to fall prey to the ability. The name is used because of how illusionists can trigger their illusions on people by creating small sensory stimuli that need to be perceived and not discarded, nor "broken" (noticed as triggers, associated with something else, etc) in order for the sense they stimulated to be controllable. However, many other triggers exist, such as having a person bet their soul on a game and consciously or subconsciously admit defeat. They are considered a way of "poking the gaps in the armor that is the Interference Field".
  • Four, abstract powers can be exploited. A power like a flame that can burn "anything, even abstract things such as the distance between two points or the ability of other flames to burn" will still be resisted if one attempts to manifest it directly inside the field, but once it's in contact with the field, it could burn "the interference of the field" and eliminate its effects, for example. This is because the field itself is an abstract thing: a distortion of the world's logic.
    • Suppression: An active technique of the Interference Field wherein the outlier suppresses undesired information emanated from them and becomes invisible or like a black body to forms of extrasensorial perception and sixth senses that many outliers have. It is a skill mostly used for stealth, but often taught to allow outliers to conceal their fields from detection by modern technology and avoid being discovered as outliers when living in nations where that can result in violence.
    • Iron Body: An active technique of the Interference Field in which the outlier intensifies its resistance on their own body and creates a resistance and repulsion to all, even already manifested supernaturality. This resistance is small, but allows one to avoid power activation on their bodies even after a way of bypassing the field has been used, such as a trigger or direct contact with the body. The Iron Body is weak, being easily bypassed through a non-casual attack by someone of the same level, although it can be concentrated on a smaller part of the body to increase how powerful that would have to be. It interacts in odd ways with the effects of matter and energies of supernatural nature or origins, such as allowing one to grab and hold a fireball without exploding it as it would on impact, all due to the interference and resistance. This technique recquires focus to activate and maintain, and it's possible to weaken it extremely or deactivate it via a simple punch to the chin.
    • Abrogato: An active technique of the Interference Field in which the outlier touches the back of the head or the spine of an individual with supernatural abilities and rejects that individual or their powers, making so that their cells most sensible to the field — those which control their abilities — have their functionality suppressed. This causes the target's powers to become numb and unresponsive, nullifying all active abilities, but does not affect passive ones. Also works on computers by touching their proccessing units, although with potentially more far-reaching damages when the structures that control the powers and other functions are unflexibly shared. The duration of the numbness depends on intensity, duration and area of the contact, typically being of several seconds before the powers start to slowly come back when activated from a hit, but if an opponent can be pinned down, Abrogato may last for days, weeks, months or, with the right application that the vast majority (Anna included) of its users do not know, be permanent on anyone unable to regenerate parts of their brain or spine. Supernatural matter can insulate one from the effects of Abrogato. Activating Abrogato through one's gift is possible, but extremely tricky as it requires it to be active since the power is manifested and maintained the entire time, besides a greater effort to compensate for the weakness of the gift's field.

You can ignore the part about "absolutes" if you want as they're NLF on this wiki, but it's something that's a part of the field's original description used for roleplaying, as in roleplay the powers may indeed be judged "absolute" and only countered by another "absolute", such as someone being utterly immune to fire and never affected by it no matter what. The field doesn't null, but does soften that kinda stuff, too, the same way it doesn't impedes but does distort/repel relativistic movement and stuff faster than that. (It does totally block infinite speed, though).

Indeed, she does! OwO

However, I suppose he still needs to not get KO'd before managing to copy her stuff, right? In other words, not a low-diff battle, maybe even high-diff.

David's natural regen will help not get insta KO'd, or at least last long enough to copy her stuff and do his thing

His Regenerationn is low-mid and only listed at his third power set, though, are you sure it's acting on this fight or that it will do much? One Piercing Blow to the face can crush his brain inside of his head, though Anna indeed does not go for lethal options unless she deems necessary.

Also, just to make sure all her options have been exhausted, Anna's intuition could make her notice she should avoid approaching this guy or take care with letting him touch her and she could start camping out or fighting carefully. Here's the intuition's description:

  • Intuition of Flavor: An uncommon passive ability Anna was born with and developed through her life and training. It is human intuition developed to such an extent that her mind will subconsciously reject anomalies on itself, guarding against mental powers to the point where an illusion manifested as a supernatural hologram in the environment will not be seen unless Anna wants to see it, an aspect which she had to train in order to tone down and be able to see illusions, but also through them and recognize them as such, being able to break them willingly. It is as if she could intuitively detect the "nature" of stimuli, feel their "flavor" and know if they are real or false through ways not consciously understood. Besides, as an advanced intuition which interferes with her instincts, it can make her subconsciously react to and predict movements from others, as well as detect patterns that Anna wouldn't consciously observe, like the first muscular tensions that indicate an incoming contraction and movement or very subtle emotional signs.
And here are two skills that Anna can use for spacing and keep control of her distance, back away without being immediately tagged:

  • Limit Break: Because Anna's gift was psychosomatically suppressed during most of her life, her brain's self-imposed limitations for it are harsher than normal, but it is extremely easier to break through them via adrenaline rushes, meaning she can channel the tension of a battle into a short burst of increased strength and speed that lasts from the beginning of a heartbeat to the end of the following one.
  • Slide Dash: Much like anyone can build up strength between two fingers and release it on a fingerflick, Anna can swiftly prepare and create a burst of speed that immediately accelerates her to maximum velocity on one direction. Using it midair or anywhere with little support to her body is for some reason more tiring than normal and therefore way harder to spam.

Fate Servants all have Mid-Low regen iirc, but David should have Low-Mid due to Shirou's powers

said powers also passively manefest swords under his skin to help protect against attacks

David should also be able to copy Limit Break and Slide Dash when he Traces her gloves

He'll sure copy them, I'm talking about the neutral phase of the fight, before he does that. What will low-mid regen do to prevent him from getting KO'd by a single Piercing Blow?

  • Piercing Blow: Anna propagates the impact of an attack throughout a defense to hit a target. One example would be punching a person's head and making the impact go straight into their brain as if she punched it directly, causing damage far worse than a concussion with no superficial bruising or impact damage to the forehead. Added to her knowledge of martial arts and anatomy and her fighting experience, this can make any blow highly debilitating as an arterial valve can be disabled with a casual strike, a joint can be debilitated, an organ can be directly struck etc. It is possible to go through multiple barriers (e.g a helmet and the cranium), but that requires exponentially more effort and concentration and can turn a technique which is easily and quickly used into one that requires thought and preparation. The density, durability and supernaturality of things on the path will resist Anna's gift, but a Piercing Blow is nearly always more effective than a normal blow to some extent.

well, when he hits her head swords will appear either to stop the force of the attack or in large enough numbers to explode out of his head and into Anna as she'd be really close

I see. That would definitely put a lot of pressure on her and likely cause some significant damage, even if he's outmatched at the beginning, as well as protect from PB.

What about the hypothesis wherein she feels that she should avoid being touched by him for some reason she cannot consciously explain and decides to fight defensively? Here are some tools Anna can use to avoid being touched:

  • Straight Sound: A technique usable in both mundane and fight situations wherein Anna emits a sound and directs so it's not heard elsewhere and its energy is concentrated throughout reduced areas and volumes. This can be used to talk to someone without anyone else hearing, or to clap her hands extremely hard and propagate a shockwave straight towards the enemy, alongside many other applications. Sound can also not be emitted, allowing for silent movement that lightly vibrates her foot and the surface in contact with her without meaningfully affecting anything else.
  • Plasma Bomb: Anna uses her hands to strike the air and transfer kinetic energy directly into it to efficiently generate wind that is compressed into a single point until it heats up and turns into plasma. Once created, the ability to control dispersion of kinetic energy makes the compressed plasma sphere stabilize on its shape, its size ranging from that of a thumb and the power of one of her punches, to that of a human head. Upon exploding — be it upon impact or by being allowed to sustain itself on its own for long enough that it destabilizes and disperses — it can electrocute, burn, generate impact and set fire on a target, as well as momentarily blind them. Its multiple damage forms generate a large time window for Anna to initiate a combo. The plasma sphere is constantly surrounded by strong winds that circle it at a close range, and they are used as a support for Anna to redirect the kinetic energy that reaches her from them and manipulate the bomb that way, usually with the assist of hand movement.
  • Phantom Step: It is common for speedsters to be better than average at generating afterimages with their movements, but because Anna can control them, she manages to better manipulate her afterimages, creating them at slower speeds, desynchronizing them from her actual position and even making their movements differ from her own to an extent. This allows her to even create fake attacks and other very low level illusions.
And of course, her Gift naturally allows her to send a physical blow through the air. These are just skills which are especially good at letting her follow with a "don't get touched" plan, albeit Plasma Bomb can also be used as a Rasengan of sorts.

I guess she has some form of combat precog?

If Anna tries to play the range game for long enough, David will probably use Unlimited Blade Works and spam 9-A swords at her

Isn't his non-9-B stuff restricted? He shouldn't be able to use that.

Though even if he does, through Anna's agility, she can dodge that, maybe even hit some back at him through her aerial punches, and these long range punches aren't visible as they propagate through the air and would make him end up taking hits until he falls.

And yeah, she has a limited combat precog, yet another thing that makes her able to counter the skill difference before it's copied. She's also good enough at analysing patterns that the sum of her advantages will lead her to trap David even though he's more skilled. If she finds a single opening to hit a fully powered Plasma Bomb, he's likely getting so debilitated she can rush down and kill him before he recovers, not to mention her precision allowing her to potentially hit piercing blows from afar should a good opening be found.

Anna's stamina is insane and she is cunning, she can play that safe, campy game for hours and has enough ranged and aerial versatility to counter whatever he throws at her. By the time an hour passes, I doubt David won't have taken a single heavy punish.

Yeah I forgot that

Well, I have some doubts in Anna being able to dodge a barrage from UBW which was able to counter before totally overpowering the Gate of Babylon, which is literally everything made by mankind ever but better. Granted Shirou was constantly Tracing whatever got shot at him and adding it to UBW, but it should still work

Should worse come to worse, David just has a shitton of swords explode from inside of him in an attempt to block the attacks and damage whoever's near.

Well, David will probably be able to figure out that she plans to play the long game and create a Zelretch, which basically lets him go on forever

Anna has insane aerial mobility, she could even hop from weapon to weapon to keep dodging in midair, and read UBW's patterns to make dodging extremely casual. After all, AFAIK UBW is just a constant spam of weapons, if she grasps the pattern then she can keep going forever while counterattacking midair in ways that can force David to move.

Not to mention if she grasps his bad habit of creating swords to defend himself all the time, she can start adapting through Piercing Blows and punish that by instantly KOing him the next attack he defends that way, so just spamming unlimited blades would, hilariously, not work.

Anna can also create afterimages to make him miss, and can use them to throw plasma bombs from seemingly more than one angle. Fully charged plasma bombs can create 9-A explosions and that might force David to dodge as he could die when attempting to defend himself.

Not to mention she doesn't have to throw PBs (both plasma bombs and piercing blows) linearly. She can predetermine a trajectory which the bomb or punch will follow midair.

This seems like an incon to me, as they just kinda go in a circle forever in terms of responses to the other's attacks

Why would they? You forgot Anna has the advantage so long as she doesn't get copied. She can even use Straight Sound to attack an entite area with shockwaves, making so that creating swords for self defense is entirely useless as they ignore that.

Well i'm fairly certain that you implied that her combat precog won't work so far in advance that she knows to never get close to him under any circumstances, and will initially get close to enter CQC, which is when her combat precog tells her to get away but not by the time David has Traced

at which point it just goed back and forth forever depending on how close David can make swords to Anna while in UBW, because if it's really close he literally buries her in swords

I see, that's when I should add another point. Two points, in fact.

First: David doesn't know he needs to touch her in order to activate his skill, so he might just think she's untraceable and not even try to activate it again for the rest of the fight. That's a pitfall he could easily fall into and it would basically defeat his biggest advantage.

Second: Anna can use the Iron Body technique once he finds out and he won't be able to trace her even if he touches her unless he finds out how to counter that. And he'll as stated before be on a disadvantage at CQC.

And if he just tries to bury her in swords, she can quickly retreat with Limit Break+Slide Dash and counter with Straight Sound.

David doesn't need contact to Trace her, he just needs to be close enough for the IA to not work, although i get what you mean

CQC is definitely not advantageous for David, as he basically either gets one-shot or explodes into swords

IA? What do you mean IA? Anyways, she can use that technique to fully block tracing altogether.

And yeah, she can force CQC to not only occur, but continue occurring so long as she can sustain it.
