Assigned to a solo mission by Frieza, Vegeta plans to invade the Naruto Earth. Landing nearby a Sand Village settlement, Vegeta immediately makes his presence known by blowing up an entire town with an energy blast. Multiple Jonins attempted to stop him and failed, much to the citizens's horror, and Vegeta's disappointment. Branding them all as weaklings, Vegeta vaporizes a group of high ranking Jonins into oblivion with a single blast. This threat will require the intervention of the Kazekage. Flying in a sand cloud and accompanied with the citizens's hopeful cheers, Gaara has arrived. Brandishing his scouter, Vegeta reads his soon to be opponent's power level. Smirking, he enters a battle stance.

Note: I made this match with the assumption Vegeta is above baseline, he isn't.

After looking at the stats more closely, Gaara has a significant AP advantage with his sand, his sand AP would be on the level of a theoretical Kaioken x8 Goku , however he's still physically 8-B. Vegeta can win by somehow catching Gaara off-guard and strike him directly.

Planet bust with Galick Gun wouldn't be possible because Gaara would just block the damn thing with his sand. Gaara's sand are durable enough to do that (it's durable enough to block a punch from Fused Momoshiki)

Gaara blocking Vegeta's Galick Gun with his sand should stop any attempts at planet busting.

Gaara can also restrain Vegeta with his sand. The sands themselves do have an AP, Durability, and LS advantage over Vegeta's body. It's one of the main things he can do with his sands.

If the Oozaru is accepted as a 10x boost in this wiki. Then yes Vegeta would have enough power to crush Gaara's sand and instantly destroy him. But since one of Gaara's main use for his sand is restraining people, he might not get the chance to launch an artificial moon.

This match just got a lot more interesting. The 10x multiplier for Oozaru has been accepted. With a natural moon, Vegeta's AP is now 600 ZT, a 4x advantage over Gaara's sands, but less than that if he's using an artificial moon to do so.

So now the question is, would Vegeta have the chance to use Great Ape? Or should I change the match's environment to have a full moon? Let me know what you think.

Oozaru transformation and AP stomp. Vegeta usually won't go this route unless he's already being wrecked earlier, which he will once Gaara's sands starts screwing him over. Likely.

Crushing and restraining Vegeta with his sand. With a 2.5x AP advantage and a massive LS advantage, and Gaara being capable of large AoE attacks with his sands. I think Vegeta takes this. Its a very close fight however.
Vegeta's flight and energy powers means that Gaara will struggle with being able to bind and seal him underground as he can mostly blow himself out and keep to the air using flight, and while he has his scouter, any attempts by Gaara to hide will be rendered moot. Gaara does have the advantage in speed and power against Base form Vegeta, but that advantage goes out the window once Vegeta goes Great Ape, increasing in both power and speed*. Granted, Vegeta's larger size does make him easier to hit, but Vegeta's increased strength makes it a moot advantage, and Gaara would likely not be able to realize that Vegeta's tail is his weak point soon enough that he could make a counter attack before Vegeta kills him first. On the other hand, Vegeta could likely realise much earlier that Gaara relies on sand a lot for his attacks, and wouldn't hesitate to attack the surrounding area to deprive Gaara of it and turn the sand into glass.

*Granted, there is no calculated speed increase for Oozaru form Vegeta, but following the rules of power levels in Dragon Ball, his speed should increase by some factor, meaning that even if his speed was only increased twofold (3.24c) , he would still be 1.5 times faster than Gaara at his best (2.11c)

I should also point out however, that another big factor that would affect this fight, aside from speed and power, is their stamina, and more precisely their Ki and Chakra reserves. Vegeta's power, speed and durability scales to the level of Ki he has, and Gaara can't use his jutsu's if he runs out of Chakra (aside from maybe his Sand Shield, which primarily has his Mom's Chakra in it). In this factor however, I say that Vegeta takes this as well. Vegeta was able to remain on top throughout the Saiyan Saga despite both the level of injuries he possesed and the amount of Ki he ended up using, and even though he likely lost a lot of Ki throughout the fight through both injuries and energy attacks, he was still able to keep using Ki attacks despite being against his weakest against Oozaru Gohan and was only truly felled due to succumbing to his many injuries. Gaara is not without his own stamina feats, but the difference between Gaara and Vegeta is that while Gaara can act for many hours, Vegeta can do the same and be able to power through most injuries he gets, and with the durability difference between the two being so great (at least in regards to Gaara's base durability), all Vegeta needs is 1 good hit in to basically seal the ninja's fate.

Also I know this has been argued earlier, but Vegeta absolutely would and could blow up the Planet to take the win. He's a very angry and prideful character (especially at this point in the series), so if Vegeta was every pushed on the losing end in his fight with Gaara, he would likely get pissed off and blow up the planet, especially if he was up against a sneaky and indirect fighter like Gaara who would be seen as a cheat by the Prince of All Saiyans. And YES, he would do so even if he was on it. I mean, he did the same thing in his fight with Goku, so it's not out of character. Meanwhile Gaara could block it....but I also reckon that he would not believe that Vegeta would actually try and do so, and even if he did...Oozaru Vegeta would still power through his shield, being 4 times stronger at this point.

There are some other small factors in this fight that could influence the battle here, but I reckon for the most part that Vegeta would win more often than not. Also he would stomp Gaara in any other key.

While Vegeta did appear to become slower in his fight against Goku, he had only transformed after taking multiple hard hits and a Kamehameha to the face, and had already used up a fair amount of Ki energy. Well, I suppose that would be a possible counter to the Oozaru form, but still a bit dubious for a few reasons. Not saying that is isnt possible but there some concerns:

• Gaara's sealing is of the physical kind and revolves around using his sand to trap physical targets, while the Power Ball is mainly energy, so what's to say that the Power ball wouldn't just disintegrate the sand as it comes into contact with it?
• The power ball can be thrown pretty high into the air, so while its not impossible for Garra to seal it, it would take some effort to get all the sand into the sky necassary for that sealing, which would leave him open as Vegeta would't just let him stop the powerball.
  • On that note, the Sealing would require the powerball to be dragged down to earth so that it could be sealed propery (as I am not sure if the sealing can be done in the air), but the ball is (again) energy so it would be impossible for the sand to actually "Grab" it, or even touch it.
• Finally, while not a surefire factor, Vegeta could also just use the ACTUAL moon to transform. Granted, its not a full guarantee that this will happen in the fight due to lunar cycles and such, but in the manga Vegeta DID plan to attack Earth during a full moon to take advantage of the Oozaru form (unaware at the time that it was destroyed a year ago), so I could see the same happening here.

Again Gaara has no knowledge of vegeta. He is not going to attack simply because he saw a hand movement, attacking in such a fashion you described is only possible if Garaa knows what type of attack Vegeta will deliver. Unfortunately for him he doesn't. He will most likely be on guard preparing for a projectile attack and die on the spot.

He is not going to attack simply because he saw a hand movement, attacking in such a fashion you described is only possible if Garaa knows what type of attack Vegeta will deliver. Unfortunately for him he doesn't. He will most likely be on guard preparing for a projectile attack and die on the spot.

so he very much would try to stop it
