Huh, Maya says she has no idea what a soul is there. Besides the censor machines that produce waves and scent to alter perception is clearly defined in text.

Something like a soul isn't a 'soul' as far as elements are concerned and the whips effectively act like an artificial core to animate the bodies. There's no conclusive proof kazakiri, burst, Aiwass, Gabriel etc have a 'soul' other than the energy that composes them. Nothing really to do with Kakine's case.

Regardless, this is going off topic. We can vote if there's no consensus.

yes as they have artificial souls, even Ellis has one, so do all the coffins, just cause they are not complex or natural does not mean they don't have one

and maya does not truly know what is a soul truly is but she still managed to interpreter it with smell

And i find it most sunny people accuse me to have a head cannon when all this discussion is based on a sentence accelerate420 said, when i bring scan and quote from the series, only to be shut down by people either cherry picking part, ignoring them or making up the most convoluted theories
 
I'm still waiting for you to elaborate on whether PR being dependant on souls means that if Kakine copies a Personal Reality, it means he has Soul Manip/Creation since he's capable of doing so if what you say is true.

But this is all irrelevant. You don't need to have a soul, nor an artifical one, to be able to move and speak. Unless you wanna claim the Misaka Networks EM Waves can produce a soul, or that Interior Touma has a Soul. Just because you /think/ you have one doesn't mean you have one, and saying "something /like/ a soul" obviously means it's not a Soul.
 
u need a soul for esper power, as it's literally demonstrated in the scan i posted, brain itself does not contain it , it's needed to work for calculation but u can use something else (like accel or kakine is doing)
 
Are you seriously taking the word of a Scientist who works on the science side who doesn't /believe/ in the occult nor the soul? He basically said it as an off-word to go "Well at this point maybe you could believe it'd be in the soul lol" not "YES IT'S IN THE SOUL".
 
i believe the experiment he did, he cut up kids with each part making sure they were still alive and added and removed other parts with mechanical part, what he found is that the espers power does not reside in any part of the body but somewhere more metaphysical like the soul, as even when part of the brain were removed they still functioned

the lack of something can demonstrate the existence of another (relevant and ironic example, is IRL dark matter and energy)

You seem to be misinterpreting the scan a bit. The experiment was to find where powers reside in the body, similar like one would test sections in the brain that control functionality. It was determined no "single" department of the body is responsible for Esper powers. Thus the his reluctant conclusion of body and soul. Like others said above and the next panel in the manga, the only thing really usable in that experiment is a correlation between body size and power.

As far as Kakine is concerned he has no body, so no longer fits the criteria of housing a soul. His power was merely activated in that state through electrical signals. Like the doppelgänger arc postulates, the soul leaves if the container is destroyed and artificial bodies most likely don't retain the soul.

"Was his brain creating his powers or were his powers preserving their existence by creating his brain? Was he alive or dead? Was this a dream or reality? He was a Moebius strip that jumbled all of that together."

By the time Post Revival Kakine manifests, Dark Matter has created its own perpetual self sustaining unoreintable system. Like a chicken and egg situation. So agreeing with OP's argument.
 
body does not have to be human , and no soul don't particularly disperse we have multiple example : maya, kazakiri,coronzon,etc

and again doppelganger leave it too much on the ambiguous side by showing her appear in her dream as a separate being in the end

and no he gained his consciousness at some point in the fridge, he himself says it and that's how he learned the new tricks with DM
 
Voting for Kakine not having a soul fra. Even if he still had one somehow, it wouldn't really be within the clones or Dark Matter in general so that argumnet itself isn't the point of the thread.
 
I do agree he would have unconventional resistance as clones don't have ones, but it must be somewhere as it's required to work
 
It looks like most agree with no Soul, I'm still not sure though. I kind of agree with Malox's points but also others make good points as well.
 
The argument has never been whether Kakine's souls still remains else where, but whether the DM bodies have one, which it doesn't. Not only was the experiment that he quoted not even about whether or not it's finding the soul, but the influence of an ability between a smaller and larger body. The Cores belonging to Kazakiri and other characters, he seems to have the mistake of considering Souls when they're anything but. Unless you wanna suggest Kakine is capable of Soul Manipulation in creating an Accelerator body with Accelerator's Soul and Personal Reality, which is silly. As well as believing that just because a character deludes themselves into perceiving themsleves having a soul, means they have one. The Wisp's were also anything but a soul as the text even denies them being Souls.
 
You mean Kakine's clones? The ones he spams out?

Tbh I couldn't care less either way. It's not like Kakine isn't already nearly impossible to put down as it is. So adding it makes no difference to me.
 
Well...yes. The key isn't Fridge, it's Post-Revival. He's abandoned his original body entirely and his ability is what keeps him alive now. He's just a walking ability and matter.
