Time Manipulation's Note

Why are video games singled out as having unreliable examples of time stop? The same can be said on it in nearly any form of media?

What are you referring to?

Well, everything else appearing to move in slow-motion is a fairly common ability in video games, without any mention of the protagonist possessing time manipulation abilities, so that is probably the reason why it was specifically pointed out.

The same can be said of many other series as well that aren't video games

Well, it was likely a more common problem that people in this wiki misunderstood such events, which is why it was pointed out, and I personally do not consider it as a big deal.

I fail to see how that pertains to this issue

This isn't really an issue, although I guess it wouldn't hurt anyone if it was changed to something along the lines of

"Characters shown to be able to "slow" or "stop" time entirely might just be making use of an ability that consists of Speed Amplification, Enhanced Senses or/and Perception Manipulation, and so sufficient evidence and/or context is required."

It would if it's stated to be something related to a form of timehax actually, not just a supernatural power since that's too vague.

How about this slight adjustment of the original text?

"Characters in video games and other types of media shown to be able to "slow" or "stop" time entirely might just be making use of an ability that consists of Speed Amplification, Enhanced Senses or/and Perception Manipulation, unless the stories or their lore explicitly state or show it to be otherwise."

It's fine, but the only thing is that saying "explicitly state or show" is a bit harsh. Not everything needs to be explicitly stated, some things are meant to be implied or interpreted.

Agree with this

So do you two have suggestions for how to modify it? Is it enough to get rid of "explicitly"?

How about this?

"Characters in video games and other types of media shown to be able to "slow" or "stop" time entirely might just be making use of an ability that consists of Speed Amplification, Enhanced Senses or/and Perception Manipulation. As such, sufficient evidence and/or context is required to prove otherwise."

Thanks. Are the rest of you fine with if I replace the text within the page then?
