Star Wars Resistance will be animated by the Japanese studio Polygon Pictures.

Polygon Pictures ("PPI" President and CEO: Shuzo Shiota Head Office: Tokyo, Japan) is proud to announce that our studio will be producing animation for Star Wars Resistance, the newest Star Wars animated series.
Polygon Pictures previously produced animation for the 3D CG series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Emmy award-winner for two consecutive years, and we are pleased to once more be involved in a Star Wars animated series.

so Lucasfilm will be cashing on both weebs and geeks alike

Star Wars World Domination XD

im not super fond of 3-D anime but because it takes place in the star wars universe i will be more forgiving :)

yes, however, anime is also sub-genre in animation often characterized by colorful graphics, vibrant characters, and fantastical themes.

this is extremely noticeable from countries outside of Japan and is one of the main reasons we categorize Japanese animation differently to western animation

After Rebels Season 4, it seems to me that Lucasfilm is okay with letting Dave Filoni have his way. Sure, the inconsistencies in various things and some of the filler-like episodes bother me, but the man has proven that he can tell great stories which feel small & self-contained but still manage to be important in the grander scheme. I'm expecting good shit from this series.

I hear she is badass

according to Alex he was salty about what happened to her in TLJ after reading the book

she honestly is the modern Boba Fett

according to image leaks, Cardinal will have a major role in the story aswell

this series will definitely improve the world building of the ST which is my biggest gripe with the current trilogy

Captain Cardinal? Excellent! I hope we get to see him before and after his defection from the First Order. He's unlikely to join the Resistance though. He may end up a loner neutral who doesn't give a **** about either side in the conflict (like Ventress).

So it is indeed 2D and not 3D. Good. Full 3D and Ajin art style would look too weird.

I see in that image: Phasma, red armour dude has to be Cardinal, Japanese looking fellow on the right is definitely Kazuda Xiono. I also see Poe and BB-8.

Oh, so it's going to be a 3D CGI like show.

Polygon pictures is known for making these kind of shows. Shows like Knights of Sidonia, Ronia : the Robber's Daughter and Ajin come to mind. Well, there is also Transformers Prime, which was a great show, but wasn't a consistent example of their work. I was forced to watch most of these with my younger cousin.

I'll say it right now, the animation is probably not going to be as fluid and crisp as the TCW or Rebels.

True. The show is only two months away. I'm surprised we don't have a teaser already. TCW got a trailer despite coming out next year.
